I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere on the Boma - and I don't have the time or patience to find out but....
I am delighted that Africam has finally responded to requests for a donation option, which some of us have been asking for for a long time!
I appreciate that not everyone here can afford to make a donation (even if it is only the cost of a couple of nights out each year, a carton or two of cigarettes, a few beers or bottles of wine - that includes me! - a visit to the theatre or the monthly cost of your TV licence) but many, if not most, of the Africam viewers can afford at least a small donation in return for the enormous pleasure that they get from the cams, the friends that they make on the Boma and the education that they gain....
Although I do not like the current Boma (as many of you know well!) I do appreciate the 'free' availability of the cams and I have made many friends, most of whom have been unswerving and loyal, over the 7 years that I have been an africammer.
These friendships have led to my being able to afford to visit Africa and other parts of the world, including the USA, many countries in Europe, and areas in the UK which I would not otherwise have had the opportunity to visit - due to the generosity of Africammers in many ways
I am, for example, to visit Vienna later this month as a guest of Africammers who are not only accomodating me and taking me to 'see the sights' but who also arranged cheap flights for me.
I have also learned a lot about Africam wildlife - more than I could have dreamed of without this site - and have, due to the Africam website and thanks to Wildlifecampus, become qualified as a South African Field Guide!!
What 'price' can I possibly put on all of this?
I will be making my own donation - small as it may be - in full appreciation of the services that Africam provides, the friends that I have made and the opportunities (educational, travel, etc) that I been afforded over the years, via the Africam website.
I encourage all here to do the same......... to donate whatever you can afford in order that Africam continues to grow and prosper!
Campbell and his associates deserve to be able to make a living out of the site - they have invested a **** load of money on our behalf and it is, surely, now 'Pay-back Time' for those who benefit from their efforts - us!
I would like to thank Campbell and Africam for giving us this wonderful opportunity to say 'Thank You' and to contribute to the future prosperity of Africam - The Best Wildlife Site In The World!
