Allow users to customize forums

Hi. I think it would be helpful if members had the capability to designate some forums (or possibly threads?) as favorites and have these appear in the sidebar of the page, indicating whether there are new posts. I don't forum-hop much, and some areas (for example, the Wildlife and Birding forums) have much less traffic than others but sometimes very interesting items are posted there, so I forget to check and probably miss a lot. I don't know if this customization is possible, but it would be nice!

If I haven't clicked on a forum yet, it will have the word new after it.

Right now, this forum says there were 15 replies and under it the number of any new replies since I last visited that forum in bold white numbers.

When I have caught up to date in that forum, I just click on Forum again, Active discussions again and go to the next one I am interested in. This method works for me. I wouldn't have found this particular discussion without it.

re: your last paragraph Ann..instead of clicking Forum again, I just click on the green return arrow (below File) which returns you to 'all recent' posts or hit the backspace on the keyboard.

Note: If you have just sent in a post this will just take you back to that page, so in this case instead of clicking the green back arrow, click the little arrow that opens up a list of pages right beside the green arrow, and click on 'recent posts'...hope this makes sense.

I would like to have a drop down menu at the bottom of the page that list the names of the forums. One click and you're in the forum you choose. I'm on many message boards and this is the only site that doesn't have that feature. Thanks

Thanks, Ann, I wasn't familiar with that feature.
