Elephant Plains is our only major problem left, although we are still some way off to getting it back - no ETA yet

Greeted by an elephant

Most game lodges in South Africa outside the Kruger Park are not fenced so that wild animals can wander in and out as they please. This means that there is always a chance of close encounters between man and beast.

Viewing cams

fani recently pointed out (on the Camera forum) that only one cam could be viewed (apart from the streaming cam) at a time. This has now been rectified and each cam should now open in a seperate window.

Thanks to Campbell for rectifying this.

Lion Encounter

Following a request from cerinthe, I have posted a short story of one of my experiences while working in the bush :

Being a guide, I encountered lions whilst on foot on several occasions, however usually I was in their turf and as such carried a rifle as a safety precaution and for the peace of mind of the guests I happened to be walking with and my own.

Nkorho cam - streaming AND 15 sec frame refresh?

Following up on my posting in the Nkorho cam forum about bandwidth use and the high cost of this in SA I was wondering if it would be doable to have both a streaming and a 'convential' camera stream (e.g 15 second frame updates.)

This would allow slow speed users to see the cam n the one hand and save bandwidth for us poor sods in SA on the other. We could monitor the low-bandwidth 'conventional' cam and switch to the streaming one at times there is an interesting sighting (or when we long for the sounds of the bush...)
