Cyclone
Submitted by Landi on Mon, 19/02/2007 - 9:22pm.The South African Weather Service has reported that there is a possibility of a cyclone, currently somewhere close to Madagascar, hitting the coast of Mozambique towards the end of this week, which may bring large amounts of rain to Mozambique as well as parts of northern South Africa (which could possibly include the area where Nkorho Cam is situated).
This will be preceeded by high temperatures - the forecast at Skukuza today is 37C.

In Swahili and Zulu
Submitted by Sungura on Mon, 19/02/2007 - 7:20pm.Some of us were chatting about the Swahili words for animals today, and I thought we'd keep the list going. And since Swahili isn't spoken in SA, I thought it might be nice to get some of you 'in the know' to post the names in Zulu. (Is that what you call the language?)
So far we have:
elephant - ndovu or tembo
hyena - fisi
cape hare - sungura (hee hee, that's me!)
And I'll add:
mongoose - nguciro
rhino - kifaru
hippo - kiboko
giraffe - twiga
Learning Basic Swahili
Submitted by owlsatdawn on Mon, 19/02/2007 - 5:53pm.Several members think it would be a good idea to learn some basic Swahili. Especially the names of all the wildlife we see here at Nkorho.
Could we please start a thread?
Thanks

Been reading your notes you've posted. I, for one, want to thank all of you for the great job you do with the cameras. I've seen that huge ellie several times now -- thrill!!!!! And today I watched a small bit of brush there and behold, out of it scampered monkeys and they played, went back to shade, out again. This thrills a PA resident who can visit Africa anytime I click my mouse.
