Marabou Stork
Submitted by nickgriffin on Sun, 14/03/2010 - 5:49pm.A bird that we do not often see that often but when we do it captivates some of us, is the Marabou Stork, with its black and white feathers and a red neck and face. Earlier in the wet season we seen Marabou Storks chasing Jackals around the wide-open areas on NK, and the storks were relentless until the Jackal left. Some people may not know that the Marabou Stork is the scavenger of the bird world. With the design of its beak the Marabou can not rip flesh off a carcass.
