Cheetah Cub Birth (Video Highlights) May 2, 2012

It didn't go off without a hitch, but the star of our show Salome (our cheetah mother) took the internet by storm last night when she gave birth to 2 cheetah cubs LIVE. This broadcast was a tribute to all the work being done at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre in the name of cheetah conservation. For those of you that missed it, here is a short highlight video.

The amazing team over at the Hoedpsruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) has been at the forefront of cheetah conservation for over 20 years. Many are unaware that the cheetah is by far the most endangered big cat in Africa. The spotted cat has been around for about 4 million years, but its population has decreased bya staggering 90% in only the last 100.

A Cheetah Cub's Tail takes place at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) which has been at the forefront of cheetah conservation for over 20 years. Most people are not aware that the cheetah is the most endangered of the big cats in Africa. Cheetahs have been on the Earth for 3.5 to 4 million years but in only the last 100 their population has decreased by a staggering 90%.

Introducing Salome: Our First Time Cheetah Mom To Be

"A Cheetah Cub's Tail" begins with the story of the mother of our cubs, Salome (which means peace). Salome is only 3 and half years old and this is going to be her first litter. Her personality has been described by the HESC staff as "aggressive".

In just a few days we will be launching a brand new live streaming camera called "A Cheetah Cub's Tail". This 24/7 channel will follow the lives of a litter of cheetah cubs at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) from their birth to their hopeful re-introduction into the wild. Our first time mother to be Salome (which means peace) is currently in the HESC maternity ward and is expected to give birth at the end of this month.

Many people will tell you that spotting a leopard in the wild is tough, and finding yourself a cheetah is near impossible, but that's nothing compared to looking for a Bururi long-fingered frog that until last year hadn't been seen since 1949.

Black Eagle 2012 Only Days Away: New Camera, Night Vision and Sound

Preparations for "Black Eagle 2012" began even before last year's broadcast ended. There were a great deal of improvements we wanted to make, and hopefully in a few weeks it will all pay off. It's been a very exciting installation that for the first time will bring 24/7 viewing with infrared night vision and sound to this live streaming broadcast.
