This month's question :
Who names the leopards in a specific area like the Sabi Sands ? When a name is given, do the lodges communicate with each other about the specific leopard they have named, or how does it work ?

Answer :
it depends largely on the property where the leopard is found. It has also been discussed at previous rangers meetings why it could not be the rangers who had done the foot work at finding the cubs first. Then it was said that it also depends on how long a ranger has been working here for. So at this point it usually goes down the scales from the ranger who has been here the longest in the northern sabi sands. Leopards are usually named at the age of between a year and a year and a half because of the high mortality rate.
