Hi again Cerinthe - sorry I didn't answer your question, haven't been back to this site for a few days.
Yes, the Sandhill cranes do fly back and forth both Spring and Fall, in fact I was just checking my e-mails here at home, and one of our birding club members said that he saw quite a lot flying over yesterday, so I must keep a better look-out - hope I haven't missed them all.
By the way, I don't really live in a village, - Edmonton is the capital of Alberta, and where I live is a smaller city a few klm. directly north called St. Albert, population approx. 58,000.

a red breasted nuthatch was in thier with
downy wood pecker - the downy gave it a
dirty look at the nuthatch flew off
I think this nuthatch is flirting with Barry

year round resident - now that they have found our squirrel feeder,s maby they will stay around - we have 6 acres of tree,s f

looking for vultures and this red breasted nuthatch
landed in bird bath about 15 ft from me
