howzit again - if you get a chance
some time could you get a good pic
of any of the wildebeest calves
they are now 4 months old and i have been trying
to get a cam pic of them for the wildebeest journal site
but thier not coperating lol
last night march ( 23 ) they did a walk by the pan
but i couldnt get a good cam pic
thanks if you can do it ( p/s - not the youngest calf )

A calf eats its first grass at about 10 days, although it is still suckled for at least 6 months. Even after weaning, many remain with the mother until the next year's calf is born. At that time the young males are driven away, but the females often remain in the same groups as their mothers.
** WILDEBEEST CALF GROWING UP **
The wildebeest’s height is 45-55 inches at the shoulder. It averages 350- 550 pounds.
The name wildebeest (lit. “wild animal” or “cattle”)stems from South African Dutch and Afrikaans. An alternate spelling is “wildebeest.” The wildebeest, also known as the gnu is a large ungulate (hooved) antelope (genus Connochaetes)."Gnu" is likely an imitation of the wildebeest’s characteristic grunting in the Khoikhoi language
