the speed test I was refering too would have nothing to do with africam.  it is only a test of your own download speed.  The site I use for that is speedtest.net  and have it test from the one it thinks is best as for nearby you.  Yes there is some buffering that goes on particularly at TE when zoomies change but that isn't all that often..  as for the cams they are always changing so hard to say if anything particular with them is causing your problems but not most of the other viewers.  the test you might have been refering to is a tracert which shows the speeds in time between hops between you and "africam"  and could show where a problem might be in the routing of the internet to you from africam servers.

I've been with Africam for two years now, and I'd also really like to know what happened all of a sudden back in the spring that made all this start happening, too?  That's another factor ... the only time I had problems with the streams was when the cams in general were acting up.  Suddenly this past spring, I started having this problem where certain times of the day my streams go all wonky for about 3 hours at a time.  *sigh*

Thanks for your input, Tman, and please let me know if you think of anything else.  I'm heading to bed now, but will check the posts in the morning when I wake up to see if you or anybody else has any ideas or thoughts.  Good night, and thanks again.

Yes, I did the speed test and it told me that Africam was jumping out of the parameters or whatever?  Basically it said that my bandwidth was fine, that Africam was having the problem.

And yes, one of the times I was having really bad problems, I came on here and asked around if anybody else was having problems.  Nobody else was.  I was going to do that again tonight, but I didn't need to, because I viewed the videos of the lions that Mavis uploaded.  I also saw the lions at the same time and recorded a little video of them myself.  Mavis's videos are wonderful ... smooth stream.  My video is the usual chopping and freezing that I get at this time of day (night for me).

As for the daylight thing, that would make sense, except for the part of the day (there), I have no problems with the streams.  If the daylight providing more data was the issue, I'd have problems the whole time it was daylight there, right?  Not just for the first few hours?

I remember somebody saying one time that at the time periods I was having the problems (and for the length of time that it happens to me ... only for 3-4 hours), something about when the zoomies switch, they sometimes don't set some certain numbers or something, and until they do, the streams are choppy, and only going out to certain areas?  I wish I could remember what that was, because that made sense for my problem, too.

I don't know ... I just wish I could get it figured out because before this started happening I really really loved Africam.  I still do ... when I can actually view it on smooth streams and don't have the choppiness and freezing going on.  Sad
