buffering and feed problems?

For the past 3 days I've been getting lots of buffering on the cam which is not normal for me. I am running the cam off your new pop-up and my VLC player both. The pop-up plays momentarily, then buffers and rebuffers, then eventually goes to ready again. Wondering if this is from your end or mine. I haven't made any changes to my system which would indicate possible problems. I am running WinXP/2, mozilla firefox, cable connection. Today is the worse I have seen it, but then again, I'm able to sit and watch it more because of it being the weekend. Feedback appreciated. Puzzled

LOL Auntie Lyn ...I think I got your connection...I had over a week severe bufferings and suddenly before three days it runs fine !!!

It happens often to me ...without any changes in my system...It buffers for several days and without change anything again it starts to run fine....I couldn't find what's wrong until now ...As the same time other cams run well ...

Fani, give me back my feed!
Well, maybe you can have it now... I spent most of the afternoon, cleaning up my hard drive, running spyware removal programs, and freeing up some memory. Just got home from an evening at my parents, and so far the cam is smooth. The audio is horrible, but that has become more normal than not. Did you ever find out what your problem was/is? I hope that what I accomplished today helps in the long run.

Well, after all my buffering problems yesterday, I spent a good portion of my time cleaning out my hard drive, running adware removal programs, defraging the hard drive, generally freeing up memory and disc space. Finally get back on at 7:30pm CAT today and have had some really severe buffering still. I have no idea what is going on. I had no problems with the cam before 4 days ago? I'm not seeing anything from Africam regarding the down time of the cam earlier (apparently about 6 hours today), and have no idea if this buffering has something to do with the problems regarding Africam reported by Ms.Charlie or what. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Most of us in South Africa are having problems with our adsl feed lines, it is possible that Africam have the same problem the problem is with our fixed line supplier.......They say they are working on it, but this is Africa and this could take time, no competition for them no reason to hurry.

I get about three secs max before mine buffers

Cheers

Janine

Hi Auntie Lyn.  I'm so sorry to hear (& see) your video viewing/buffering problem.  I contacted Admin and asked if there was possibly something on their end.  And they said that everything is "A ok" from their side.  I watched live, what you have recorded and had a nice smooth feed.  I talked with blueeyedlibra early this morning and she is having a buffering problem as well.  Fani's buffering seems to have subsided.  I wish I could tell you how to fix, but it seems to be random.  Maybe there are more having the same problem and we can work it out together.  If there are more members with this problem, hopefully we can keep this thread going and find a common solution for you guys. Have you down a flash players update lately?  Just thinking out loud.

Sabine, I went back and restored my computer to Oct 18 when I was getting great feed. At first thought that would fix it, but I am getting constant buffering. I am playing at 32kb most of the time. Watching the cam off the Africam popup player in IE tab on my Firefox (2.0.0.Cool.

I normally watch the stream in my VLC player, but it can't maintain a connection with all this buffering. Tell me how to obtain my ISP information and all that and I will gladly share it with Jon, although he hasn't answered my note to him yet.

My feed did not start to buffer until the evening (EST zone) of the 24th. It has gotten worse each day, with less and less steady stream. I get Pete's Pond without problems, and I have my normal feed to WildEarth (most always choppy for me).

Any help appreciated!

this will not be any help for those of you having problems, but my feed here today has been good.

No buffering at all and running at 261 kbs/sec the whole time.

Gerda, mine is running at 32kbp/second. Can't get a steady feed at all, yet Pete's is good, and Djuma is clear so far.

The buffering, dropped frames and intermittant sounds is much worse tonight, especially after the link to Wavelit was dropped. here is video of what I'm getting off my VLC player.

On the Popup from KITN it goes to black screen then to ready. On the popup from our front page and on the front page, the sound goes in and out and the timer stops, then jumps ahead. Any help?

!!!HELP!!!!

This now makes the 8th day of buffering, freeze frames, lost video packets, interrupted audio, etc.  I have sent Jon my information and am not getting any feed back from anyone, except for apologies from fellow members and the moderators.

I have tried every Pop-up (off the front Africam page, the link to the pop-up on the left of the page and the link from KITN)  and am getting constant buffering, freezing, and after about 30 mins of that it goes back to a black screen with ready.  All of the pop-ups are giving me the same feed problems.  Playing the stream in my VLC player is horrible, right now it's loosing packets of video just like it did last night.   I have checked with my ISP, I'm not having any other problems with any other live stream.  I am getting Pete's Pond and Djuma clear.  But I can't get a clear feed off Nkorho.  My speed tests are all great.  ISP says it's a problem from AFRICAM!  The feed is coming thru at 32kbs since this all started the evening of the 24th.

I am not the only one having problems, but there are only a few of us being vocal about it.   Please can't someone from Africam address this problem and help us come up with some sort of solution???  Looking for answers!

Bufferings visit me often ...and they started again several hours before after a few days of fine feed ...You know it ...The only I would like to add even I don;t know if there is a meaning to this  is ...that videos on the first page from Time shift are running fine on the cam window in the first page

Fani, I think because they are video and not live feed is why there is no problem with them. This all makes no sense.

It's 7:58am EST, and I just logged on about 20 mins ago. So far I am getting the feed fair off the front page, but can't get it off a popup without buffering. It says playlist2 and the popup from the front page said playlist4. I don't know if the playlist has something to do with it or not. The only problem, the player on the front page just stops, goes to black and says ready after about 20-30 mins. Then when I refresh, all I get there is buffering and a different playlist number.

I just posted the note above, and when I went to check the cam on the front page, I had to refresh again to get it to come up. Now I'm getting a message at the bottom (where it gives the feed and buffer information) and got the message: playing "Nkorho": 32k bits. See picture below

Just to say that since the changeover to Africam from wavelit i have had no buffering probs whatsoever, it's a constant  261kb/sec the sound is also good! I hope you all can get your problems with the feed sorted soon Smiling
