Change is not often met with open arms.  We all really enjoyed the sounds that came from the birds and animals that drank and splashed in the watering hole...

but we really have gained some wonderful new sounds.  Some recent ones:  the lion/hyaena encounter and the leopard climbing up the tree.  Soon the Marula tree will bear fruit and the elephants will return to eat from it (along with all the baboons, giraffes and many others who enjoy it).  The impala rutting season will follow.  And then who knows what

Maybe change isn't such a bad thing - we might find that the new sounds will be equally as good as the old ones.  Let's give the new stereo sound a bit of a chance.

I totally agree with you, Kinty. I have been missing the sounds also.

The mic on Camtree detects just the sounds from the Waterhole we watch. I love them so much.So pure.

Please make this possible again!!!!

I also agree.....Half the fun is hearing the approaching footsteps or snorting plus the hyena playing in the water and drinking etc..

I miss all those sounds and will so more once the critters start cominf more as before....

Count me in with AuntyLyn and Ex and kinty.    I sooo miss the cam tree mike.    I know a bunch of other cam watchers that don't post here that feel the same way too.

I agree too...in fact if we just have to have one mic on only, I feel it would be better to have the cam tree mic as the main one, and the marula tree mic as the back-up.  That way we get to hear far more than only the birds.  Would this be possible?

I too am sad that we no longer are able to hear the sounds from the waterhole....ellie's feet and the loverly sounds of him bathing, the sounds of lions and hyaena lapping in the water as they drink, rhino's snuffling as they approach the wh....soooo many more sounds that we don't hear now....with the mic in the tree, most of the other sounds are drowned out by the birds (I like the bird sounds too) ... sure am going to miss about 50% of the enjoyment of the wh by missing the critter sounds...sad here!!

Oh Gerda, this is not what I was hoping to hear. I miss the waterhole sounds, and it may be that we will not get them again like we used to.

Yesterday I watched Josh approach and pass the waterhole from the lodge in that little white truck. You could hear the truck approach, loud and clear at the tree, and then when he was midway of the waterhole you could not hear the truck, just the bird in the tree. We are missing so much of the waterhole sounds with the cam microphone only being used as backup

Hi, The marula tree mic is separate from the old mic at the camera, they also work separately either or. The Marula tree mic is stereo and is the one working now, the other is a backup.
