 i was raised on a ranch and what the female elephant was doing - we called - BULLING they try to mate with anything- even a tractor bulling acting like a bull. Said of cows when they mount other cows that are in standing estrus. The buller may be a cow with adrenal virilism which always acts in this manner or it may be a cow about to come into estrus.
