good morning - just looked at the streaming cams and some other site s in here now am having a coffee -watching the news-(elephant seal )washed up on shore here its rare for our area- so thier gona take it and display skeleton I was taken aback definitely," says Stanley. "We thought it was going to be a stellar sea lion which is more common around here." What they actually found is much rarer -- a northern elephant seal.

lol hi Moxie, been snowing here now for the past 2 hours. But it should turn into rain later tonight so the white stuff will be gone quickly here. Not here...The sun is out, still way toocold to melt, and the weather guessers are saying we could get more in a few days...depends on which way the latest front goes. Hope it misses us!

I wanted to compare N.A. mustangs to Burchell's Zebras, i.e., size and social dynamics. It seems the herds headed by a dominant female and a stallion are common denominators. This is what Wikipedia said about Burchell's Zebras:
The Plains Zebra is mid-sized and thick bodied with relatively short legs. Adults of both sexes stand about 1.4 meters (4.6 ft) high at the shoulder, are approximately 2.3 meters (8 ft) long, and weigh about 294 kg (646 lbs) however males may weigh 10% more than females.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find length or weight of our N.A. Mustangs, other than they average about 14 hands, which I believe is about 56 inches (1.42 meters). I realized that I'm probably 14 hands to the shoulder. In any case, I'm surprised the mustangs aren't taller since Zebras have short legs. If anyone knows anything else about mustangs, I'd be interested in hearing about them. I'm one of the people trying to keep them from being killed but am having trouble finding much info.
