And, one day Theo, we will meet and we will re-live and, hopefully, will regenerate the true spirit of Africam.....

It is a great shame that many of the original Africammers no longer visit this site but there are many 'newbies' here who will, hopefully, keep the faith and keep the conservation dream alive into the future!

At the end of the day, Africam is not only about the free entertainment of the masses, it is also about the conservation of African/Endangered animal species - although new visitors to this site may not realise this when reading the Boma!

Conservation does not come free - it costs a S**t load of money and it saddens me that there are many people who enjoy the 'free' cams here but who do not give a cent (or a s**t) towards conservation issues in Africa.
These people may be involved in conservation in their own countries - and I applaud them for that - but Africam is, and should be, about conservation in Africa?

For all the other members of our AfriCam community I'm adding here a little history to my friendship with Cerinthe, Our first meet was back in 1999 at Frankfurt Train station. Then I organized an official meet of AfriCammers on Dec. 16th of 2000 in Downtown Frankfurt. There, besides Cerinthe from Belgium, The Moufasas from NL and Sheels from SA, with the rest of her tribe living in England an Germany took place. The next meet with Cerinthe was in fall of 2001 at Brussels Airport where I had a stopover on a business trip to Leeds UK. By maintaining almost daily internet contacts with Cerinthe our friendship grew over the years . Yet it took 5 more years to meet her again. Now there is hope, that chances occur more often to meet her here.

I write this to show to the rest of the AfriCam community the spirit created by what once was the original AfriCam. There is no reason why this cannot go onâ¦..Theo.

I don't go to Africa nearly enough Ceri - and you don't either! Maybe next year we can go together - lol - thats a challenge not a suggestion!

Dearest Ceri

It has obviously been my 'misfortune' not have met Theo during European meets although I remember well the times that he talked to us, and to the wider Africam community, on Africam Radio during his visits to SA!
Theo was also very active on the old Boma and Chat and I always enjoyed reading/hearing about his trips.

Hopefully there will be a future European Meet when I will have the pleasure of meeting Theo at last - and have the pleasure of seeing you once again......... it has been way too long gurl since we last met!

Almost since the very beginning of africam I have been a follower. This was created not only for the webcams and knowledge about the wildlife I gained in this time, but also for the friends I have made here. Some of them are from that early time, which I now can speak of as years ago.
