Dan made it to South Africa in 2011....... Twice

Just posting some more pictures because its been a while and its very quiet here so I can do it I hope you enjoy still lots of adventures to show you all

A crash of rhinos as they are known

This wildie was ready for his close up.

As you can see africa is a beautiful place

Have you ever had an ostrich in your car park trying to make a nest

Now the animals decided they wanted there close ups as you can see by the next few pictures

The zebra wanted to be close as well, they crossed the road just in front of us and she showed off her baby as well

Then saw a crash of rhinos apparently the female here was in season hense all the males

Ok I have teased you for long enough lets continue on this game drive so off into the distance was  two herds the first was a zebra herd

this was the first one to walk down, the whole herd followed and they were heading to the hills to avoid the 80+ lions many leopard two cheetah and a pack of wild dogs, the predators of pilansberg.

The zebras were joined by wildebeest as well but they had a little gem following them

And here it was a little baby a few months old perhaps but I was happy loved the baby

This picture just shows how family orientated zebras are

Springbok herd was also here, I love springbok but this was the only herd in the park.

The elephant was surronded by other critters as well

A nice herd of wildebeest sadly though Pilansberg has too many lions and has placed an order of 1000 more wildebeest to cope.

Impies here as well in the distance

Here is a nice picture of mr elephant we got quite close and he did not even blink lol.

Springbok off in the distance these are the next critters with a delightful little suprise as well

So onwards and then we stopped the ranger said footprint elephant hes close and what do you know we went round a corner and...........

Its a very hilly reserve and this is the first picture to give you an idea of the lay of the land

So the first animal we saw was a white rhino hiding behind a bush

It eventually popped its head out

So here are some more baring in mind the game drive has not even started yet but its over to you guys now as I have an unidentified bird and could not find it in my book so please could you help

Now time for some more blacksmith lapwings

Vervet monkeys and baboons showed no fear in this camp site as you can see.

Now this little cutie had a sad story we walked out to go on game drive and he fell out of a tree and we were all like noooooo, so we went over and the mum ran down and collected him but it turned out his back legs were deformed, he ran on his fronts legs but what might save him is the fact the troop lives in the camp, sadly nature can be cruel and this does happen but who knows the little guy might of made it

So we move onto pilansberg national park now, some things you must know We went for a day trip so we lounged by the pool for the first part of the morning and had a lovely meal

Now as this a tourist spot the animals behave differently no fear of man you see so you can get very close and they do not even flinch a prime example of this was in the campsite where we went for a walk and found some impala the pictures I am about to show you are with no zoom as if you were standing there yourself

As you can see some young impalas I thought they would run after this shot but no

And finally the closest shot now if you think about the first picture I took of the impala this is absolutely fantastic, its great for photos not so great for natural behaviour.

They are cool really well adapted to their habitat as well, sorry it was only a short entry tonight I went out
