Dear Members

There has been some confusion around the donation drive for Josh’s Laptop and we would like to resolve any misunderstandings.  First of all Africam had no knowledge of this donation drive, however we did agree once it came to our attention on the basis that KITN (Kids in the Nest) would manage the process which clearly has not happened. A second complication is that Josh is not a permanent staff member but rather a volunteer and it was KITN intention to secure funding for him which also will not be happening.

After reviewing the situation we do believe that KITN’s actions where well intended but perhaps a bit over zealous, but never the less supported by a large number of members who quickly showed their support. As a result we are happy to endorse this project and move ahead with purchasing a laptop, wireless LAN equipment in order to equip Josh/ Nkorho with an access point on the internet to keep the members up to date on the going on’s at the Waterhole. We have also got the full support of Nkorho for this initiative.

To date we have received US$ 3052.00. We would suggest that the cost of the laptop and wireless equipment be deducted then the balance of the money be used to provide Josh with some monthly income of which Africam and Nkorho will also contribute.  We will endeavour to keep a record of these expenses and publish these accounts as and when needed.

We have also received a number of other suggestions regarding donations and we would be happy to address and or support these initiatives if the community are behind it. In future all donation projects will have to have the stamp of approval from Africam to avoid similar situations.  Please address all concerns about donations to donations_at_africam.com

The following list is donations from people that Africam has received if your name does not appear on this list please email us:

The list has been removed by request please email (as above) to confirm your donation has been recieved.

There of course are other versions of the same story. KTTN is not here to defend themselves.

Stop please Mike. Let's just deal with the facts at hand please, take care of business, and move forward.

I think that is an awesome idea, Campbell, and I am all for it! *two thumbs up*

LaBelleMuse is my business so that was me if you need to match donors to feedback.

I think the time has come for us all to come back together as a cohesive team of  diverse members and put bygones behind us and carry on, have fun, enjoy what Africam gives us  today and what we may have in the future !  Only by doing that can we be strong enough to prevent an upheaval like what we have just been through.

A huge element of the WWW is being able to meet such a huge and diverse group of  people. Individuals we would not normally have the opportunity of knowing in our our own neighborhoods and enviroments. Africam provides us with  a wonderful platform for doing this.  We all come together with our one common bond, and that is a love of Nature in all her glory, be it a Eagle soaring overhead,  the whoop of a Hyeana and roar of a Lion, or most importantly,  the opportunity to share the wildlife in our own backyards with people the world over.

I think we should show our gratitude for this opportunity and celebrate our differences instead of making them a point of contention.  And if this means a monetary donation, then when and if we are able, we should take the time to hit the Donate Here Button.  How many times do we opt to stay home and watch Africam instead of going out to a movie or dinner ?  If you are like me it is many times LOL.  From now on, I will donate the price of that movie ticket, or the dinner out . But, you say, why should I pay if everyone else is not paying ?   Because when we help bring this little corner of Africa to the world, then we are helping the world in so many other ways. It is the trickle down effect.  It stimulates a thirst for knowledge. And knowledge is power and power is a stimulus for change.   A desire to save the Elephants in Kruger, may very well lead to the desire to change and save a little part of your back yard.  And on it goes !

And if you cannot afford the monetary donations, then do your part by bringing knowledge, understanding, and a friendly atmosphere on the Boards.  So lets just stand up together as One and trickle down all over the world ! Laughing

We would like to clarify the following: the laptop that Josh is currently using is on loan from Nkorho. It is not the Laptop that the funds will be used for; another dedicated laptop will be purchased to replace the existing one. In order to speed up the process Nkorho where kind enough to loan us one in the mean time.

Thank you Wild Dreamer.  Your words are indeed an inspiration for all of us to move forward and forget about the recent past as quickly as possible.

Campbell, thank you!  Accurate information, straight from the "horses mouth" is invaluable to the community.  Keep up the good work.

Thank you Campbell for providing information.

I'm also in complete agreement with eerything Wild Dreamer wrote, most especially the following part:

Quote:

I'm very sad that our community has split apart to a degree, and, hope this puts an end to the devisivness.
