Can anyone tell me what the creature on the right is? It drinks from the watering hole and then is almost stepped on by an elephant before moving off....

Agree...most likely small croc. As Tman said, they are known to be at Tembe Smiling

My first impression is that it appears to be a smallish crocodile for the following two reasons:

1. The tail appears to be flat and heavy where as the monitor or the leguan lizards have round tails that taper off to a thin point at the end

2. The colour to me also resembles a croc more than a lizard

It came out of the watering hole...could it be a crocodile?

My first thought was that it would be a monitor lizard..but then I thought it looked like a small croc.  Do they have croc there?..I see T'man said he's seen them there before so that's what I'd say..a croc

My money would be on a monitor lizard.

I didn't even think of that. I went through the animal database for mammals and the closest thing I saw was a mongoose. It definitely moves more like a croc though. Thanks!

It appears to be a crocodile to me.  We have seen it in the past but was very blurry and further away so that is a good shot of it here.
