Hello everyone,

Africam will turn 10 years old in September 2008, and Nkorho Cam will turn 2 years old the same month.

Isn't that a reason for us to gather and celebrate the birthdays of Africam and Nkorho Cam?

I would like to propose a meet somewhere in Europe on the weekend 13/14 September 2008.

We will meet in a place that is the most convenient for the majority of members who want to attend the meet. It should be a European city that is easy to reach for those of use who will come by plane or train.

So if you are interested in attending, please post in this topic or send me a Private Mail. And please feel free to suggest a city for the meet.

Everybody is welcome!

Good morning Katja and thanks for suggesting this great idea!  I'll think over what central European town it could be. I'll be coming for sure wherever very happy to meet you and old friends again! And to meet newcomers, of course.

You can count me in Katja!

Well, from far across the seas, I'll keep tabs on what you are all planning, and if the money drops into my hands, I'll be there...lol. Sounds like a wonderful idea, maybe the USA can plan one as well. Happy planning.

Count me in Katja - it would be great to meet you, Ursula, Ceri and other 'old' africammer friends again - and to meet newer cammers - to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Africam and the 2nd anniversary of NK.

September will also be a good time to celebrate the 7th (I think?) birthday of WildlifeCampus so maybe you could also post your plans on their message board?

I do not have any preference on where to have the meet - although I still have to fulfil my very old promise to come to Copenhagen! -  but if you want any help in organising this please let me know.

If you could send me an email about this meet, once the details have been decided, I will pass it on to other Africam friends in the UK, Europe and SA who may wish to attend.

Hi Katja~~~Hubby and I are thinking about it. He thinks the project that he is working on may be completed by the middle of September. We liked the idea of meeting at Amsterdam.

What a pity it wasn't last year, but I can vouch for either Amsterdam OR Copenhagen as being great places to meet!  I'm off in 3 days to Portugal, Spain & Italy (plus a day in Casablanca) so I doubt I could make it in Sept., but with me, you never know, so keep me in the loop!  And good luck putting it together!

For those of you who are in doubt what an Africam Meet is about:

It's about getting to know each other, making friends, talking about things like Africam, Africa, wildlife, travelling etc. and having a good time. Smiling

Hope there are a few more people who want to join.

Hello geschu,

I am trying to find out which date is most convenient for those who have said they want to participate. I am still waiting for some replies.

I was also thinking about Vienna as a possible place for the meet.

I will be happy with any venue - but Vienna would also be nice as Florian and annie~ would be able to attend and, it is a beautiful city with great restaurants and fantastic countryside close by.

I really hope you can come geshcu - it would be great to meet you at last!

A meet in Europe would be great and I would suggest Vienna (of course...WinkLaughing ) since this would be the closest for Toni and me and propably for Geschu also. I was just talking to Tabs, who would like Vienna too. Toni and I would be here all of September and October...so no prob with any dates. Anyway....let me know what will come up and be decided on !

Many greetings to all,

Florian LaughingLaughing

Things to do in Vienna:

  • walk in the city center

  • ride on the famous ferris wheel

  • visit St. Stephan's Cathedral

  • eat a piece of Sachertorte

  • most important: have a good time with other Africammers

Any other suggestions? Smiling

Maybe Florian could be persuaded to organise a 'behind the scenes' visit to the Burg Theater, where he works? That would be very interesting!

There is also the Schloss Schoenbrunn - a Palace which was the home of the Hapsburgs, which also boasts the world's oldest Zoo (the Tiergarten) and the history is very interesting.

There is a 'train' which takes you around the grounds if you prefer not to walk (the grounds are quite large!) and there is a lot to see there - this venue can easily take up a whole day!

Hi Tabs, Katja, Ursula, Cerinthe and anyone else I missed.

Wow! Long time since I have been in touch. Guess my sixth sense is was working overtime today. Just had the urge to come into the forum and see what is going on. So glad I did.

All is well here and I would love to put myself on the list of Old Africammers who will attend the meet. Will start checking out how much the flight will cost, etc.

Where will we stay? Has that been checked into yet? (cost, etc.). I will start saving up now---I am not that far away--- just over the Mediterranean LOL.

Someone please e-mail me with the details.

Hugs Chandra/Judith in Haifa

Hello Chandra,

Great to see you again on the Boma!

It would be wonderful to meet you in Vienna in September!

So far only dates and place were fixed. There are no detailed plans for the meet yet. As soon as there are more details I will post them here.

I will also post some suggestions for places to stay in Vienna soon.

I don't know if I have your email address but if not I will get it from JudyOH.
