FAQ - Are The Animals on Africam Really Wild?

They sure are. All of our LIVE streaming cameras are located on wildlife game reserves. These are massive areas that are sectioned off from the rest of the world. This allows them to remain completely natural and the wild animals within them to live as they have for hundreds and even thousands of years. That's why often the sights and sounds of these cameras almost make you feel as if you're going back in time.
Nkorho Pan and Elephant Plains for instance, are located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve which is connected to the world famous Kruger National Park. How big is Kruger? It's roughly the same size as the state of New Jersey or the country of Wales.

Hi Fligh,They are definitely
Hi Fligh,
They are definitely not fed during the day. Hippos are solitary when they are foraging. They are also what I would call "set in their ways" I suspect that these two are foraging in the areas close to EP and NK and enjoy a soak there before returning to their home during the day.
Not strictly true I suspect.
Not strictly true I suspect. Both Nkorho and Elephant Plains have a single, young hippo visiting their pools. These two often spend the night sleeping in the water. Since these are not batchelor bulls, and since hippos are herd animals and nocturnal grazers I suspect that these animals are solitary because they have been raised as orphans, and sleep all night long because they are fed during the day.
If I'm wrong, then there must be some other, as yet untold, story to explain this out-of-character behaviour.
