The Pilanesburg Centre was open in May when we were there. They have done a very good job rebuilding the centre, but the service is poor, hopefully the service will improve. It is still a magic place to sit and watch the world go by as the the deck has been extended.

Talking about the Pilanesberg Centre, does anyone know if it has been rebuilt after the fire?

nice to met another FOPS member. over the last 6 years we have been to 2 work parties and then we stay over in the FOPS tents for a couple of days in manyane. We were last there in April and had a great few days, even got to see a Leopard in a tree.

One of the reasons that we liked Lantana was that we were out in the open , we have had to move ( whilst working ) because of Lion, Elephants. Also once the Lantana has been killed it is amazing to see how the trees  grow and the animals come back into the area.

We had an area that we worked on over long weekends IE Easter. It was up a management road so we were away from the public, when we completed work we would go up to the top of the mountain and look down onto the Pilanesburg Centre and the plains in front of it, a really awesome sight.

Sue ( my wife ) sent me the news on Kwa Maritane, not very good as it sounds like it has been totally gutted. We are  enjoying your report on your trip to SA.

In 1996/97. I was with a boy scout troop and our leader was involved in FOPS.  I think I still have scratches on my arms from those lantana bushes
