Flash isnt live

I was using a couple other sources off africam to watch as the new flash probs killed my computer  and viewing at this sight. and the thing i noticed in live chat with a friend is that africam is now at least a min behind live if not 5 at times..

now granted there has always been a difference but never has it been beyond a few secs ten at most ..  the whole reason we loved it here, is it was a RAW LIVE stream...

i see africam as a teen thats doing self harm right now, and i hope all the members have the courage to stand up and say Not Acceptable.....

please if you have an issue with these changes speak up and speak up now because once there all done They/We Cant Go Back........

Thank You MH !!!   My sentiments exactly, and you said it much nicer than I could have !  Face it people,  Africam Rocks !  And I think I would dehydrate if I did not have a glimpse of those waterholes  every day .  I have tried the rest, but I stick with the best.  Smiling

I don't post here much any more, but wanted to add my two cents to this thread.  That being, that live cam viewing of NK/EP is what it is.  I have been a viewer here long enough to have seen many changes for the better, and a very few that I am not wild about, but, oh well, that's life.

Thank you for having the wonderful folks of NK readily available to answer our questions, share their personal pics with us, and, keep us updated on whatever else is happening out of cam range.

Thank you for improving the sound, clarity, and lighting on the NK cam and adding the EP one, long after I became a viewer.

Thank you for never asking for a dime from us, and listening and responding to our inquiries, and... um, complaints.

Thank you for helping the children in the area and making improvements to their school environment while sharing the experience with us.  I am guessing many of these children have never seen a paved road, gone to a movie, or eaten a burger and fries.   Yet, I'd also guess they never complain.

Thank you, Africam, for everything you give!  Do what you have to do to keep this site alive and well.  Hopefully, all of us will have the priviledge of watching for a very long time.

 Cheers,

Carm

general info: About 2 months ago the delay from my movement to what you see on the cams was 90 seconds even more some days. I had a look what the delay is now and it was from my movement untill the picture movement on Africam 5 seconds.

As Donna has already stated, the cams are as "live" as technology allows.  Lags of 1, 2 or even 3 minutes are not at all uncommon, dependent on which way around the world your feed has come.  And it changes, constantly.  In this case, though, I believe it was just a case of the feed with the Impala having frozen.  I had that very pic on my screen for at least 20 minutes, until I restarted it.

My only complaint is that I can't watch both NK and EP at the same time anymore - one always freezes. Frustrating for me, but at least I can see one at a time!

I started two IE browsers.  Both show the exact same date and time, but totally different scenes.

I had the same thing happen at the same time. The cam had frozen with the Impala on it even though the clock kept running. When I restarted, the Wildie was on cam. That happens most of the time when the cam freezes for any reason. Usually at 1st I don't realize it's frozen unless, like with those Impala, there is an animal in an odd position for more then a second.

I believe the cams are as "live" as technology allows. There will always be a delay in transmission dependent on several things. I have watched the cams with friends and we are never at the exact same moment. I have the same experience as Maddie in that my cable tv is behind my non-cable tv, by a couple of minutes. (When I want to, I can see the touchdowns before my brother Tongue out)

I hope this helps.

My only comment about this is that  recently there were two basketball games on that I wanted to watch at the same time.  I watched one on the TV and the other online via live streaming camera.  When I went to the TV station with the game I was streaming online, it was a minute or two ahead of what I was getting online.  So I don't know that this is a problem with Africam, but perhaps the limitations of live streaming video at this point.

p.s.

The game I watched was on ESPN360.com, and I would think they'd have good up-to-date technology.

Hello Bottlenose, both cams started buffering and then the feed went down around the time of your pictures.  The inconsistency with the pictures could be related to the buffering and temporary loss of cams.  Just a thought.
