paul i appreciate you do your best under very tough circumstances.. But unfortunatly when i want to vent my frustration at the cams being down or the new flash idea, you come in to direct line of fire.... when i fully understand that not all is in your control and you are merely doing the best with resources available... but sorry im still gonna vent... lol .... i hope you understand
no hard feelings mate if ever in oz i'll shout u a beer and we can debate flash lol
Flash Media Conversion of Elephant Plains
The weather is not always the real culprit. To get the video to your computer the feed has to go from source, beamed across a valley to a receiver, then sent via multiple links / networks to JHB and then to our server in California and then we send it to you.
Not an easy task. Everytime the cams go down it can be one of many breaks in the chain. We have to trouble shoot and then fix the problem. We have to contend with a very unreliable Telco and a country that is experiencing power cuts. This is almost a 24/7 job and we do our best.
when is this flash gonna actually improve anything.................... and i mean anything . with the site down more u must be earning less ad revenue, then even b4.. and dont blame weather or anything we arent stupid....... funny thing am on the net can check ya weather ands stuff......
the reality is whoever took the contract to redo africam is in over there head and need to hand it too a real webmaster...
To make it more clear ...about the quality ...In an attempt to help ..and not to complain .. .
I looked just before at the pics thread ...There is no colour in some of them ...I think colours needs some adjustment ...
The pics when cam zoom around the waterhole are really clear and nice ...but the distance experience is nt good ...We have a fussy image ...that it too tiring for the eyes ...Also slow soft movement of the cams can give better experience ..So dear zoomers please don't zoom in and out too fast as cam can't autofocus so fast ...
Oh, what happened, NK switched itself off, now just got a black screen!
I was about to say I was getting a good picture. What a shame. Does it often just turn off?
Welcome to Africam. Yes, at this time of the year viewing can be interrupted because of the weather. It is the rainy season and storms are common on a daily basis, particularly in the evening.
Hi, Newbie here. I use Mandriva 2009 (a Linux distro) instead of Windows, and it uses Firefox 3 with the Flash 10 add-on installed.
Although I agree with you A L, particuarly the extended wait while the adverts play before the site opens up, and the need to watch it twice if you want two windows open.

I must agree with Aunty Lyn ...The quality of Nkorho the last week is again too bad at the long distance views ...it becomes worse as it is cloudy and rainly there ...and there is no an active camera work ...
At Ep though the quality is better
Hi all, Auntie Lyn back here... I probably don't have any room to talk, I took a hiatus off Africam because of some of the nonsense that was going on... and come back to find that we can only view in flash, and the only way to see both cams, EP and NK, is to open both popup players. I am getting both, so in that regard, I am miles ahead of others I see... but my comment is that the quality of the picture is so poor at Nkorho. I am looking presently at a picture of Impala resting next to the wooded area and if I didn't already know from years of watching, I would have no clear cut idea of what I am looking at. The picture is quite blurry and things seem to move in halting, erratic, slow motion... but as usual, the ads show up quite clear. Haven't made up my mind if it is good to come back or not yet.
Hi Paul. Is it possible to let us know when you are making changes or tweaking the system so we don't try to change our computer settings? I am a moderately competent pc user and have found some helpful hints from other users, but there are many members who still have major problems. The frustration is because we DO depend on our Africam fix
.
will check.
