Hi all we are going to be upgrading the forum when we upgrade from Drupal 4.7 to 5. If you have any suggestions that you would like to add to the wish-list of functionality you would like on the forum please post it here.

not sure if this is possible, but I always struggle a lot when changing my signature Embarassed :

  • is it possible for us to also have the same functions like change the fontsize, fontfamily etc there, like we can do when posting on the forum ?

I think it would be good if links that are posted on the Boma always opened in a new window. At the moment the standard is that it opens in the same window which means you are taken away from the Boma if you click on it.

in the link tool there is an option to open in a new window (like this)- perhaps we should see if we can force that?

Yes, I often use that option. It works if you use a phrase to link like this one but it doesn't work if you use an URL. http://www.africam.com/wildlife/index.php

I would love a page of fun smilies we can use like on other forums Smiling

I would also like fun smilies. If possible, I want to search the forums by member name, posting date in the order posted and when it finds it take me to the posting, not just the thread. Thanks for asking!!

Thank you for asking!  :)  I'd like this:

Home » Forums » AFRICAM STREAMING FORUM » The watering hole    to appear both at the top and bottom of the page, so it won't be necessary to scroll back up to the top to return to the forum page.

I'm with hunjoro, breadcrumbs (links) across the bottom would be great.

Also, Default for links to open in a new window.

Hi Campbell and Jon,
Thanks for asking for wish lists in the upgrade.

In the Advanced Search Feature, there is the option to search in the General Waterhole Area. I attempted to search for something in the Nkorho Q & A Thread a while back to share with a member, but could not find it in the results.
Is it possible in the advanced search to have some of the larger areas also broken down in to sub-categories as well? That would be a great help along with the search features that were mentioned earlier.

Many thanks for all that y'all do!

I think I mentioned it before to you, but in the advanced search area below the list of forums is tick boxes but can't read the text due to the font color is very dark as is the background.  Can only read it if highlighting the text.  The same is true in the account information area of private message settings.  Also on the search results if they could have some sort options such as sort by date or forum or user might be of benefit.  Lastly, as for font colors, the box we type in has white background, but when it is posted to the forum the background is very dark.  Is there a way to eliminate dark color choices for text so when posted the text will show clearly to all?  This would also prevent the first problem mentioned.  Thank you for your efforts.

Thanks for asking for suggestions. There used to be  a link at the bottem of every page where we could click back to the forum main page. Is this possible to have it again?

If I want to go back to the main forum page, I have to scroll all the way to the top of the page that I am on ....Thanks

Thanks for letting us give suggestions.

Is there any chance we could have a quick reply box on the forum, instead of having to reply to a individual message?

I second Janine on more smilies and Suffolk Punch on a quick reply box. There's been several times I wished we had one or the other.

How about a pip window at the top or bottom of our screen so we can see the waterhole  when we are here at the campsite

Hello Campbell

I think what happens is that some signatures are too long, so the last part of the signature gets truncated. This can result in unbalanced [ font] tags for the signature. The opening tag is there but not the closing tag. And then all posts standing under that signature also appear in the font type and colour chosen for the signature.

for example if you look at this topic, you will see the the font changes under the post dated 28/07. It's not just the font of the post that changes but also the font for location, number of posts etc.

I suppose this is caused by unbalanced tags in the signature which could be caused by truncation.

Edit: Maybe it's not caused by truncation but just by mistakes that are made when people try to type the UBB code manually. Undecided

What about for another choice of only five messages in a page ??? When I'm away of home, with a slow internet connection ...I have difficulties to download all ten messages of the pics thread. I get several pics with a red x or half and it is needed one or two refreshings before I get them all Embarassed

how about fixing the problem that when you click on a "new" message it should take you right to that "new" message and not to the begining of the forum!

I really like Katja's comments on posts opening in a new window so that we aren't taken away from Boma. I also like the feature of having the links menu at the bottom of forum pages so that we can get to where we want to go from the last post as opposed to having to scroll to the top of the page. What a pleasure to have Africam and all of its features! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for continuing to bring such excitement into our lives!! You continue to do such a great job and we are forever thankful.

Hello Africam:  Thank you for taking the time to ask us our opinion.  I like the idea that Suffolk Punch has on a quick reply.  Would it be possible to set the font family, color, size etc. in our profile so that when we type we do not have to select it each time.   A spell checker would be nice.  I also like Katja's idea on the URL opening in tab or window automatically when you click on it.  I could right click on the URL, and it would give me that option, but most of the time I forget to do that until it is to late.

Campbell, et al: We are always quick to let you know what is awry, but I forget to thank you for the improvements you all have made lately. The buffering at EP, although not gone, is much improved as is the lighting and focusing. The Zoomie has been great and the Q&A thread has added a lot. The NK staff is part of our family. The drive pics, the interaction on the threads and Jacques willingness to play in the water for us is wonderful. I know I've forgotten something, but please let everyone know how very much you add to our lives.

I'm guessing you've been asked before, but - is it possible to have a live chat area? I think more people would be more inclined to add to more conversations if it were easier to chat. I know there are times when I just lurk because it takes too long to add something new then keep refreshing to see what everyone else is saying too.

Thanks for everything you guys do! It's very much appreciated by all of us.
