Welcome - hippos are great!  Just now, though, a rhino has come down to the Pan and had a late night cocktail.  They surprise me how dainty they are, this one just sipped the water neatly, no slobbering, and they're surprisingly light on their feet for a bulky animal.

Hippos filmed underwater look so graceful, too - their stumpy little legs propel them along very smoothly and you wouldn't believe they weigh half a ton!

Hope you enjoy your Africamming.  I visited Melbourne back in the 1980s and that saying about 'four seasons in a day' was certainly true!  It's a beautiful city, really enjoyed it.

Hello this is my first post . I am from Melbourne, Australia and absolutely besotted with anything about Africa! I have been watching Africam for about a year but only just joined as a member yesterday. My husband and I are planning a trip to Africa next year and are currently researching which game parks to visit.

My absolute love is Hippos. I think I have about 30 wooden carved hippos and around 20 stone carved ones all from Africa. I just love them! I also love Giraffes and lions so want to go to an area where there are lots of hippos. Any advice is gratefully received,

Hi and welcome to the forum Abigail.  I hope you will join us in the daily created waterhole chat thread where we chat about what we are seeing and hearing at the waterholes.  You can almost be sure that in time you will be seeing lions and elephants.  Its all just a matter of luck of watching when they are there but they do show up fairly often.
