Another newbie here I just joined yesterday and am loving reliving the sights and sounds of the African bush. It's also proving very useful in my quest to persuade my OH that Africa isn't one giant pit of snakes (he has a phobia of them! Also of flying, but it's not THAT far to South Africa.... no telling him the truth anyone - hehe!) and that we should be visiting it at least once a year! (I've also managed to get him hooked on the tv show Wild at Heart, dragged him round many, many wildlife parks & even got him to chane the water for my brother's snakes. So far so good! )
As for me, I first visited Africa when my parents took me and my brothers on safari to Kenya when I was 5 and then again when I was 7 & my heart has been there since. As soon as I left college and saved up enough money I headed straight for South Africa & volunteered for 3 months on a game reserve. I went back to South Africa in 2005 on what was supposed to be a 2 week volunteering holiday, but I ended up quitting my job & staying there for 6 weeks - I only came back because they closed for Christmas! I haven't been back since, but as soon as I convince OH I'll be booking tickets before he can change his mind!
Thanks for making this wonderful way to get my Africa fix
