It will be interesting to hear how different members came to be a part of the AFRICAM family!

I first heard about it on Dave's Garden, a gardening website i belong to. A member there raved about this awesome site where you could see live wild animals. That was summer, 2007 and I was immediately hooked!

I was playing Mahjong on Pogo and some of the players were talking about watching wild animals.  I finally had to ask what they were talking about.  This was summer of 07.  I  told everyone I knew about it.  I haven't watched for a long time, cams were down often, lots of problems.  I don't see some of the names I used to see all of the time, but they, like I, were probably discouraged with the coverage.  I am sorry I missed as much as I have seeing the cams are much improved.

I was on a Maltese Dog forum that I belong to and the owner had posted a link.  Once I visited Africam I was hooked.

I didn't realize there was a fourm  so I just watched.  One night I heard what I thought was gun fire!!!  I e-mailed the NK Lodge and they so kindly wrote back to say it was ellies breaking branches.  It was still some time before I saw the "Forum" icon ( duh!!!! ) and joined.

When I first visited NK there were no animals around and I was discouraged.  While I was in the kitchen, my hubby cut out an ellie on a sticky note and stuck it on the side of the water hole.  "Come here, there is an elephant now"......from the doorway I was almost fooled!!!! Laughing

I was born and raised until the age of 15 in the Northeastern part of what was then the Belgian Congo.  When independence came along with all of its turmoil, my family relocated to Mombasa, Kenya.  I came to the States to complete my education.  My older brother returned to the Central African Republic with his family and two of his daughters are now in Mozambique with their families.  They have kept my hunger for all things African alive!  They heard about Africam and soon spread the word to all of the siblings.  It is the closest that I can feel to "home"!  I am totally addicted to both the animals and the people.  Thank you to all of those playing such a huge role in my life now - Admin, Mods, staff at NK and EP and the friends I have found on the Boma - you make my world a much better place!

I first heard of Africam while watching one of the morning shows (The Today Show maybe).....I watched for at least 6 months. Once I realized just how easy it was to join in November 08....I was in. Been here ever since.....can't pull away.Laughing Now I tell all my friends about it.
