I am in an animal behavior class in a local university and we were given the assignment to do a research paper on an animal and certain behaviors they show. I was thinking of doing a study on meerkats and their altruistic behavior.
I would also like to know what you all think about this. Are meerkats eusocial? I think they may be but a lot of articles I have read disagree with me. What do you all think?

I do not agree that meerkats are eusocial.
Other female meerkats may produce young but these are usually killed by the alpha pair - whereas eusocial animals never produce offspring.
Most eusocial animals are insects with (I believe) the sole exception of Mole Rats, among mammals?
