Hi all, just a quick note that we are aware that there is sometimes a problem with the IR or lighting at night this is often a reslut of either a bulb that has blown or our friends the baboons playing with them. There is also problems with the camera settings which we have tried to ensure are correctly set. One of the major problems is the technology as we use day night speed dome camera's which often give you a good overall picture but not the best night time or day time picture available. We are looking into new camera tech to solve this problem especially for our nocternal North American viewers.

Thank you!  Appreciation from one of the nocturnal North American viewers!

Campbell - thank you so much for the update.  As one of the nocturnal viewers who TRIES not to complain too much ( Wink ), I know a better night view will make for better snaps & easier ID of our visitors.  Gotta love those babs!

Thanks for sharing Campbell.
Is the light cover still cracked and not replaced as of yet? And just so we may have an idea, will it take a while before it is able to be replaced?

Thanks bunches for the update.

Karen............I don't think the cracked lense/cover has any effect on the picture quality.  The crack simply means a bit of white light may sneak out, and therefore it can be seen, but the illumination should be just the same.

Thanks for the update, Campbell. Summer in North America is particularly difficult with the shorter days in Africa. Night view is all we really have for those like me who go to work in the morning. Can't stay up late for sunrise and well after sunset by the time we get home.

I'm curious about something, though. I wonder if it would be possible to go with standard white lighting and normal cam settings....similar to what Pete's Pond has. The view area is reduced, but the quality goes way up. Reduces "guess the blob" situations. Eye-wink

Oh, I hope the solution won't involve going to white light.

The Nkorho IR setup is very capable of providing beautiful, clear night views when the settings/lighting are correct.

I so agree with you, Aquila.  As much as I enjoy the viewing at PP, I do enjoy the night views at NK when everything is working as it can & should.  Tonight, the view is clearer than I've seen it in AGES....and I'm LOVING it!  Thanks to whoever got the settings "just right"!
