a pair of Eastern Kingbirds (tyrannus tyrannus) came for a drink and a bath in the pool.  This one was shaking itself dry on the fence.

hard bird to get a pic of they like the top part of the hemlock

and fir tree,s to eat cones -  hope to get a closer pic next time

Oh boy, Barry, you are truely lucky with some of your shots. I must try and sit still in the garden for long enough to see if it works.

 then the robin came within 10ft of me  so i clicked a pic as it

cocked its head   to listen for insects in ground

i  am not sure  what happened  next -  the robin either seen the

mirror in the camera flip up or itself  in the 100-400 mm lens

but it went into a  panic  distressed mode  -  i looked around

for a hawk  or somthing at first not thinking it was the camera

setting the bird off

then the  bird stood up and preened itself in front of me for a

minute -

 it finnally flew off  and  5 minutes latter it returned with  one of

this years young  they landed   3ft from me on the deck looked at

me - i raised camera and the  flew off -     oh and by the way

 had a strange thing  happen with an *  AMERICAN ROBIN *

THIS ROBIN  eating  bugs on the lawn and slowly made it way

near me as i sat on the deck -

 the  robin  gulped down a large   moth or butterfly cattapilar

 i was drinking a coffee and looking out the   french doors-  saw

a lone  turkey vulture soaring near  end of property so i grab

camera and go out on deck - i hear a raven  croaking i look up

and over it comes  i raise camera focus  zoom and click click -

grey dull sky - and the raven went  bye bye  ( true story )
