Wow,we sure got variety last month, and from all over the world. Its great to see some of what everyone is enjoying. Truely some of the photos are as good as U would see anywhere! Lynne...fantastic shots of the Turkeys and Piliated Woodpecker. While I see Turkeys regularily when Im outside the city now,Ive never seen them displaying like that. With respect to the Woodpecker, did U know so their brains dont get scrammbled while pecking(think about it..aside from a booming headache,if we even did the repeated motions they do we'd concuss ourselves) the adaption they have is that their tongues are wrapped around their brain,to cushion it. Amazing!
Keep taking photos and posting pictures gang. Its a great way to share our passion and learn from each other.

Hi Limpopo :) :)

You went to my very favorite place in the world (Point Reyes)....it is beautiful in any kind of weather, but it is simply magical on a foggy, gray morning....and your photos are nice too

Hi Barry :)

That baby junco is sitting on a wooden bald eagle no ? Reminds me of the pigeons in the city all sitting on top of those (pigeon deterrent) plastic owls.  ...and I actually saw a red-winged blackbird riding on the back of a red-tailed hawk....sort of like he was surfing on the guy :o :o

This time of year is so neat for baby birds. Cute baby Junco.

I have a ton of pictures, but cannot load them all now - will take a few weeks.

Wish there was an "All Things Plants" because I have a bunch of plant pictures, too. Not too many birds at Point Reyes where I went. I was a little disappointed in the northern areas, because of the farming. But the Limantour road is wonderful. Need to go south next time. But photographed Douglas Iris beside the road in the north, which was great.

like the swan - Although Trumpeter Swans are slightly larger than Tundra Swans, it is very difficult to tell the two species apart. At close range, a small yellow mark at the base of the bill, close to the eye, can be seen on the Tundra Swan. There is no such mark on the Trumpeter Swan.

Limpopo, I think a Plants thread is a great idea. Why don't you put it in the Suggestion forum and see if it gets approved? Lots of plants, trees, flowers around to share pictures and learn about.
