I am almost ready to leave for Zambia. My plane departs in 3 1/2 hours. I will spend 6 weeks touring the country and visiting places like South Luangwa National Park, North Luangwa National Park, Shiwa N'gandu, Bangweulu Swamps, Kasanka National Park, Kafue National Park and Livingstone near the Victoria Falls.
Most of the time I will be far away from all means of communication but I will try to stay in touch when possible and post reports here on the Boma.

See you all in 6 1/2 weeks!

Spotted Hyaena (Crocuta crocuta) in South Luangwa National Park

It seems that the hyaena clan had made a kill that night. But we couldn't see what it was. All that was left of the kill were some bones the cubs were chewing on.

During the last week of the trip we were very lucky with lion sightings. One morning in South Luangwa we saw a pride of 4 lionesses. Two of them were sitting on the road.

They weren't shy at all, so we could stop right next to them - a good opportunity to get a close-up look. Smiling
