Thanks a lot for your wishes, Gerda, Shiloh and Fani! At the moment I am at the airport in Johannesburg, so there is nothing exciting to tell you yet. My plane to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, leaves at 10:50 am. I will spend a few days in Lusaka before I go to South Luangwa National Park. There should be lots of wildlife in South Luangwa.

I got a message of Katja today. She is finally back where she belongs.... in the bush She has arrived safely in Zambia, and she is now camping on the bank of the Luangwa River. And she heard an African Fish Eagle calling. She's in heaven.

I look forward to more adventures and photos from the trip. I saw a Shoe-billed Stork on a tv documentary and thought it was sooo bizzare looking. It really looked pre-historic...like something from The Flinstones cartoons.

Hello everyone, Right now I am in an internet cafe in Livingstone. The Zambezi River is right behind me.
2 August 2007 : Didn't see spoonbill in Bangweulu Swamps but birding was great there. Saw many new species. Did I write spoonbill? I meant shoebill. Unfortunately, we didn't see one. They are hard to find.

Hey katja ! It's good to hear from you. I checked & you did write shoebill in your sms... I made the mistake by writing spoonbill here. Oops !
