Katja's trip to Zambia
I am almost ready to leave for Zambia. My plane departs in 3 1/2 hours. I will spend 6 weeks touring the country and visiting places like South Luangwa National Park, North Luangwa National Park, Shiwa N'gandu, Bangweulu Swamps, Kasanka National Park, Kafue National Park and Livingstone near the Victoria Falls.
Most of the time I will be far away from all means of communication but I will try to stay in touch when possible and post reports here on the Boma.
See you all in 6 1/2 weeks!
Well, it probably felt like it would never get here but, here it is! An amazing experience awaits you. Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy! Hope all goes well and you will eventually be able to post an update here. Wishing you many great sightings!
Have a wonderful and safe trip Katja...with great sightings !!!! Enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks a lot for your wishes, Gerda, Shiloh and Fani!
At the moment I am at the airport in Johannesburg, so there is nothing exciting to tell you yet. My plane to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, leaves at 10:50 am. I will spend a few days in Lusaka before I go to South Luangwa National Park. There should be lots of wildlife in South Luangwa.
Katja, thanks for the birthday wishes this morning, it was great to know it comes all the way from africa.

I got a message of Katja today.
She is finally back where she belongs.... in the bush
She has arrived safely in Zambia, and she is now camping on the bank of the Luangwa River. And she heard an African Fish Eagle calling.
She's in heaven.
Thanks for the update, Gerda. I always check to see if there has been news of Katja's adventures. I am living vicariously through her. lol
Thanks Gerda!
I just played my fish eagle sounds

I look forward to more adventures and photos from the trip. I saw a Shoe-billed Stork on a tv documentary and thought it was sooo bizzare looking. It really looked pre-historic...like something from The Flinstones cartoons.
Lol, I once saw a stuffed one in a museum and thought they were extinct.

Hello everyone,
Right now I am in an internet cafe in Livingstone. The Zambezi River is right behind me.

Did I write spoonbill? I meant shoebill. Unfortunately, we didn't see one. They are hard to find.
Hey katja !
It's good to hear from you.
I checked & you did write shoebill in your sms... I made the mistake by writing spoonbill here. Oops !
Hello everyone,
I am still in Livingstone. Will stay here until Monday morning, and then I will return to the bush. Can't wait...
Katja! Nice to see you girl, what is your best moment so far?
