I hope I posted this to the right area, I wanted to ask about something I just watched though. about 45 minutes ago I saw a lion come out of the dark and soon after there were 2 or 3 vehicles that came into the area spot lighting it and driving it away. was there something wrong with the lion? I think I still hear it in the background off and on. I just wondered if this was the norm to chase them off. thanks!

Here is a post from the Nkorho Ranger posted just a few minutes ago:

I don't believe there was anything wrong with him nor were they trying to drive him away.  It sounds as though their intent was to ID this individual.   You can post any questions you have for the rangers here.

thank you for your response. i'm very honored to have been apart of his first time. there is no sound more amazingly beautiful then to hear him still grunting in the distance. it makes me want to live my dream of moving to africa even more.

Welcome gaiashadow,

You have no cause to worry. The lion is a fit and healthy lion. He was probably calling for his pride.

He see's no threat whatsoever from the landrover, nor from the people inside.

All game reserves have strict rules about shining lights, off road driving , no. of vehicles allowed at a sighting etc., I don't believe a game ranger would shine a light directly into an animals eyes. Lions eyes are not the same as the antelopes eyes, and this light would be no problem for them.

I wish you many more great sightings Smiling

thanks, darn it-we missed 3 of them! we caught the tail end (quite literally!) of the elephant and then the lion. I appreciate the info as I'm still learning the ins and outs of the site with the kids, who were glued to the screen for both of them and usually are when it's on!

Hello bubs041 & welcome to Africam.

The vehicles that came with the spot lights were land rovers (landies).  They belong to Nkorho Lodge.  Guests that stay at the lodge are loaded onto to the vehicles and taken on daily & nightly game drives to view the animals, birds and plants in the vicinity of the game reserve.  Today was a very special day as we (Africam viewers) and hopefully the lodge guests as well got treated to a day of viewing the big 5 (lion, leopard, cape buffalo, elephant and white rhino).   FANTASTIC!
