It took me a while, but I finally made it in.  The comments from everyone were wonderful.  All of the e-mails, cards and phone calls have said the same things.

I am Kris’s mom.  She rented our upstairs apartment and we had dinner with her the night before.  She went to work at around 6 or 6:30 Thursday morning and they called me around 8:30 and said that they had the squad up there.  We met them at the hospital.  When the social worker came out and took us into a little room, we knew it wasn’t good.  We thought she had passed out, they would give her an IV and she’d come home.  They did CPR on her for about 1 ½ hours (they usually only do that for about 45 minutes), but they couldn’t get her heart started, even by giving her shots in her heart.  The death certificate says acute cardiac something, but we’re pretty sure it was a brain aneurysm.

She was an organ donor so it took longer to get her to the funeral home, but our social worker worked some miracles and got that procedure hurried up.  She was able to donate her corneas and eyes, so she’s given the gift of sight to some folks.  That is so Kris.  She really loved people.  She always knew when I needed a hug.  BOY DO I NEED ONE NOW!!!!  We miss her so much.

Please pass on our appreciation and blessings to all of the folks who have sent in condolences on the Africam.  Everyone sounds wonderful.  I can see why Kris loved you all so much.

God Bless

Jeri

Thanks Chardon for getting Jeri's letter passed on to us and Jeri, thank you for writing to us.  How wonderful that her eyes and cornea's will be used by someone else, hopefully they too will be able to see life as Kris did.

Thanks Chardon, please pass to kris mom our hugs and our thought...

She was a great person ..to be an organ donor ...and as Karen says ..someone can see through her eyes ...and maybe with the way she looked with love in nature ...

Chardon, thank you for posting this!

Jeri, there are no words that can ease the pain of your loss.  But, knowing that your daughter was loved by so many people does help!  We here on Africam enjoyed her so much and she is already missed terribly.  Now it is you and your family who need the love, prayers and good wishes of those that loved her.  May you find peace in having had her even for a short time.  It is so much better than never having her at all!  God bless you!

Thank you, Chardon for posting this here.

We have another African Angel now. I'm sure she is happy there where she is now surrounded by all the critters she loved so much!

Please tell Jeri that my thoughts are with her and her family. I wish them strength and faith in these dark days.
