It took me a while, but I finally made it in. The comments from everyone were wonderful. All of the e-mails, cards and phone calls have said the same things.
I am Kris’s mom. She rented our upstairs apartment and we had dinner with her the night before. She went to work at around 6 or 6:30 Thursday morning and they called me around 8:30 and said that they had the squad up there. We met them at the hospital. When the social worker came out and took us into a little room, we knew it wasn’t good. We thought she had passed out, they would give her an IV and she’d come home. They did CPR on her for about 1 ½ hours (they usually only do that for about 45 minutes), but they couldn’t get her heart started, even by giving her shots in her heart. The death certificate says acute cardiac something, but we’re pretty sure it was a brain aneurysm.
She was an organ donor so it took longer to get her to the funeral home, but our social worker worked some miracles and got that procedure hurried up. She was able to donate her corneas and eyes, so she’s given the gift of sight to some folks. That is so Kris. She really loved people. She always knew when I needed a hug. BOY DO I NEED ONE NOW!!!! We miss her so much.
Please pass on our appreciation and blessings to all of the folks who have sent in condolences on the Africam. Everyone sounds wonderful. I can see why Kris loved you all so much.
God Bless
Jeri
