Can i ask, why is Africam and the boma not posting anything on the worldwide search for this little four year old girl, abducted from her bed while on holiday in Portugal on May 3rd. 2007 when all other websites large and small are all trying to help.
Download her picture and post it rather than shots of Zebra's backsides.

God bless you madeline

Maybe it is because the focus on the search is in Europe - and this site is South African - and the majority of Africammers (being from the USA) are not aware of her abduction?

I think that, if you want Africam to publicise Maddy's abduction, you should ask Campbell (or the Moderators) to open up a specific forum for this - and for any other children around the world who have been kidnapped or have otherwise disappeared in suspect circumstances.

I am an atheist but...... I 'hope and pray' for Madeline's safe recovery every day, and for all children who have been abducted and/or who have been subjected to cruelty, abuse, neglect - or worse - by paedophiles or (so-called) humans.

In my opinion, paedophiles and other serious child abusers are NOT human, or animal, they are a distinct race apart who do not deserve our sympathy or compassion as they are, on the whole, not redeemable.

We can only imagine the distress and fear that Madeline's parents and family are going through - imagine if it was your child....

Do we really need more media coverage? I don't think so. I'm not unsympathetic with the tragedy, but, gosh I really love having places to go that aren't filled with current event media circuses.

And yet, you are responding here smalldog....... which tells me that you are actually interested in the subject (and as such you do care about the fate of children such as Madeline) and that you realise that the more publicity that can be generated, wherever and in whatever form, the more awareness people around the world will gain about child cruelty, abductions etc etc

Would you deny, or ignore, animal cruelty in Africa or in any other country where you view cams - or would you voice your opinions here?
Are offences against innocent and defenceless children any less important than, say, a rhino being snared and killed by poachers in the KNP?

I do not believe that this case, regarding Madeline McCann, can be described as a 'medai circus' - the media's objectives (at least in the UK) in publiscising the case has only one objective - to find her and re-unite her with her family.

Surely that is acceptable to any right-thinking human being - and any objections can only be attributed to those who are, actually, selfish and uncaring about others

On a bad day I might consider that to be an outright insult, but, I'm having too good a time in my life to let such irresponsibly slung words hurt me. Surely you didn't intend to label me as "selfish, uncaring about others." Because if you knew me, you would hang your head in shame for even thinking such a mean thought about me.

My opinion stands. it is a media circus. Poor child. poor parents. But, the media is just out of control on this one poor missing little girl. We have way too many missing children in the world to place such unbalanced focus on one child.

Smalldog, i have many, many friends all over this world from UK to Hawaii
And everywhere in between and the one thing we all have in common is that this is not about the media but about a poor helpless four year old very frightened and hopefully still alive little girl, on myspace there are over 170,000,000 members worldwide who are aware of the plight of Madeleine and are all doing thier bit to help, as to your attitude my friend, i have only one thing to add, " There by the grace of God Go you and i "

The DA.

Yes, I'm a terrible person who has never personally put my own life in jeopardy to come to the aid of a small child, animal, or senior citizen.

Shame on me. I have an opinion opposite to yours and that makes me a terrible person.

The thing is, I'm only responding because this is a public forum and you are publicly criticizing me. As for what you and Tabs think of me, I could care less. I know who I am and I'm very proud of my character and compassion.

I really dont know why everybody is fighting!!! A simple question was asked Maybe he didnt ask the right person , maybe some people shouldnt try to answer every post, and then ,maybe I should keep my mouth shut. But I have seen first hand what these eveil people do to little children and until you know what your talking about maybe you shouldnt answer...
Its not a Media Circus it is concenered parents looking and praying their little girl is still alive and still a little girl.
I am sorry Moderators of the Boma if my post is offending to anyone please delete it But I had to say what I had to say!

There are a great number of assumptions being made as to how I feel and think simply because I see this world wide coverage as a media circus.

People assume I'm unfeeling, I've never seen child abuse, etc.

This thread is precisely why I'm glad the Boma routinely does not post current events for discussion. Some people seem to be unable to address the subject without making personal judgements and misjudgements of people with different views. Voice your responses but let's leave the personal comments about how I feel or what I've seen in my long life out of it.

None of you knows me, knows what I've experienced, personally, or knows how I feel. You're way, way off base.

I'm with ya on this. Well, except for the last sentence about zebra backsides. I think there is room here for both.

I have a grandbaby girl that is the same age as little Madeline. My heart goes out to her and her family. I pray she is found safe and unharmed.

I completely agree. I just don't think Africam administration needs to jump on the bandwagon and publicize it. This is not myspace. We are about Zebras and other animals.

Lots of times people post their support and wishes in the Campfire forum (as in the university shootings, the fires, the floods, etc.). All anyone had to do was go to the Campfire and post their support. In fact, when this first started the missing child was discussed in the Campfire daily chat and lots of people, myself included, posted their sincere wishes for her safe return.

I still think the media machine makes these awful events into their own crazy events.

And the remarks judging me were completely uncalled for.

Your name suits you SMALLdog... you picked it, so it can't be an insult. May I respectfully suggest that you allow caring people to care, and go to another thread to sound off?

I am locking this thread.

Everyone can voice their opinion on this matter. However, here on Africam we are just as respectful to forum members as we are to animals. Please refrain from directing personal comments towards other members.
