Monday 9th October - camera pics
A distinguishing feature of a snake eagle is that it's legs are NOT covered with feathers - while I cant get a proper idea from the pics, it seems like this bird's legs are feathered.
The Wahlberg's Eagle has a longish tail, making it easily identifyable in flight - this bird seems to have quite a long tail, so I think that I will go with Wahlberg's - but dont hold me to it.
Africam - adding a new dimension to bird watching and much more difficult than the real thing!
I have changed my mind and agree with Landi....
All 3 of fani's pics are of a Wahlbergs eagle - if you look at the 'white' cere (as opposed to the yellow cere of a Tawny) and the lack of the white wing bars of the Tawny, it can only be a Wahlbergs?
Nice to have a much clearer shot of this greenshank.
Cerinthe ..Why you dont put your questions at wildlife forum...Here it is rather difficult to find it someone and to answer ...May wildlifecampus can tell us how to ID the eagles ...and africam is easier to find there your question about the nest
I agree with you that all 3 pics of the eagle show the same species. After looking at 6 books I still find it difficult to tell the difference between Wahlberg's and Tawny. Hopefully one day I will learn to distinguish them when they are on the ground. When they fly, it is easier to tell them apart.
Looks like camerman had too many castles :!:
