My sketches of animals I have seen at the waterholes. They start as rough sketches, with the help of a picture, then later at work I add details. They're not that great I don't think.

I love your sketches and your verses bring the animals alive. Truly appealing. Keep it up.  You don't have to be perfect, just be yourself and that's close enough. Smile

That poem is great IMHO but I am not a poet and I do know it.  Thanks again for sharing your such topical talents with us.

I know this isn't visual art, but I'd like your opinions on my story I made up. I work at a day care center and it's for my preschool class. We are talking about vacations.

Frank is a very basic stick person with a mohawk and he goes on adventures. I usually draw the pictures on a dry erase board as I tell the story, which is always made up as I go along.

"Frank's Vacation"

Frank wanted a vacation but he didn't know where to go.

Someplace warm, with no snow.

"I know!" he thought, "to Africa I'll fly!"

He packed his bags and to his friends said good-bye.

He boarded the plane and away he went,

hoping to see an elephant.

In Africa he found it was very hot.

He would have to drink water, a lot.

He went to Nkorho Lodge by jeep,

and on the way he fell asleep.

He woke up in time to meet the staff

and one very tall giraffe.

That very evening he met a duiker.

She was cute, he really liked her.

In the morning he had some juice

and ended up sharing it with a mongoose.

With other guests he took a tour and very soon

they saw a very big baboon.

At the waterhole they saw impala,

who were soon joined by a stately Nyala.

Past the waterhole they had to go slow,

for in the road was a big buffalo.

After driving around some wildebeest,

they went back to the lodge for a big feast.

That night out his bedroom window,

Frank saw a big old hippo.

And then the spotted hyena, though an impressive sight,

the laughing and whooping gave him quite a fright!

Every day for two weeks he lots had fun,

enjoying the animals in the hot African sun.

But wherever he went he saw not one elephant.

But then, when his last day was almost spent,

he saw the thirsty elephant.

And not just one, but a whole herd.

Frank was so happy he said not one word.

As he watched the elephants splash and play,

Frank knew this was his best day.

I am also using my sketches to go with the story. So please tell  me what you think.
