NAME the nkorho hippo

Well if its Bubbles La mont he be, so be it daft name really but then most of them are he he, how do you know its the same hippo has it got special markings to recongnize it.

We were talking about naming the hippo in the chatroom - over 65 viewers and about 25-30 chatting there tonight - I posted the link to this forum topic there which has generated some interest in posting names here.   (We often post links to the daily pics and vids in the chat.  Krukab often post links to help us learn the forum too.)

Why would you forget about him?  Actually, SueW, "no disrespect", but I have been an Africam viewer for some time (just not American), but don't worry, I won't bother you again.

No offense or disrespect intended, Jon, but this little naming contest is just for us Africam cam viewers - the hippo will probably be on its way in a few days and we'll forget all about him.

And, besides, the EP lodge named Roy - not quite the Zulu name either!

I think it'd be more relevant if the hippo were given a Zulu name, to be honest, not a Western or cartoon name that might not mean anything to local people.  'Bhukuda' is  Zulu for 'swim' and 'nvubu' is, if Wikipedia is correct, the Zulu for 'hippo'.  Maybe his name could be based around a locality, or at least something in a native language. 

Most zoos, for example, base their animals' names around their native habitats, like polar bears being given Inuit names, pandas getting Chinese ones, so why not a native African name for the little fatso?  (I like Fatso, because that was the name of our dog, but I don't know what the Zulu for 'fat' or 'fatty' is!)
