NEW AFRICAM VIEWING PROBLEMS THREAD.
4:30AM CAT. Constant buffering after about 14-18 seconds.

Same here Roger....with the exception of a few hours this morning (my time), its been like this for the last 2 days...have managed to have it go for an hour before buffering yesterday.

Same problems here. Not even a hint of daylight which we should be seeing now.

There has to be a problem....it is 6 am Friday, at the waterhole....and still dark . The cam must be stuck in a loop from last night....Buffering as very bad ...get 20 seconds and than back to the loop. This has been going on for the last 2 or 3 days...

It still sounds like that is something in the mic. Been like this for over a week now and I cannot have the sound on and even if I did all I hear is crackling and distortion.
This is now another week later, and still static sound. I turn it as low as possible just to be sure the cam isn't frozen and it still gets on my nerves! Seems this all started with the heavy rains. Water inside something? Loose wire? Is there normally some type of cover over the mic that reduces wind noise? The very first video camera (not a camcorder) that I had in '86 had a foam cover over the mic and if it came off there was lots of wind noise. I doubt I could hear a bull ellie splashing water around now if one ever came! Sure am missing the amount of animals that were coming a few weeks ago and even though the toads were annoying, at least their sound was clear, not all static! Sure hope this problem can be resolved soon!
The Africam staff knows about the problem with static sound. They are trying to fix it.
Are they trying to fix the picture too? It is fuzzy again.
edit...also the viewing area is smaller/narrower than it used to be. Is there a reason for this also?

yep, it's Friday night and the cam is very fuzzy.

Cam has been buffering for 2 days now. You probably know that already.
I seem to be getting the same pic all the time the pied crow flying toward the camera....

Mine is stuck also Janine. Except I have 17 mins of the 4 geese at the waterhole. Hope it's nothing serious and it comes back soon.

I'm getting the same pic too -
Does any one got cam?
Hi dolly7530
cam is up and running. I read a post in the nkorho chat that said at 22:47 cat it resumed.

Curious with the cam off line for few hours now...
Is it due to server change issues or possibly something else?
I tried finding info or an explanation to it being off line this time, but was unable to find any thing.
Thanks

Hi Karen,
Nkorho is working again now
thanks sabine. i see it is now..
I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not... I created a topic which was never addressed except by Fani who also is having feed problems, (but who has been having feed problems all along). This makes the 5th day of opening the cam, and getting constant buffering. It might clear up for 30 mins and I think it's going to be ok, and then it is all happening again. I assume it must be on my end, but I can't figure out why. No changes on my end. Up until now, 5 days ago, my feed was perfect except for the general glitches when you guys were having power or weather related problems.
Any help would be appreciated!

I would like to comment on the night time viewing. I have stated many times and noticed a great improvement that if the number 18 AGC setting is set to Middle instead of High there is much less white glare and a better picture. Can a post-it note be left by the operator's computer to do this at night? For a while they were but now it is back to High. I know different zoomers change this, thus a post-it note by them would help. What do you think?

Hello luvnaz,
I have forwarded your post to the Africam staff.
Katja, thank you so very much.

This absolutely sucks! Go back to wavelit, I could watch all day, now every time I try to log on I get continuous problems. It was great for so long, why the change?
Please read this message by Africam:
Changes and new things to come
It explains the reason for the change.
Katja,
I have not been able to view the watering hole since the change. I have tried all (I think) of the ways others have used to fix the problems, but they don't seem to work for me. Do you or others from africam have suggestions? I use WE 7.0.
I am able to watch the Africam preview show, but then my screen is black with the blue "ready" above the play button. If I press play again, it just shows me the preview again and repeats it's self.
Thanks,

I have been unable to view the Nkorho Water Hole since they changed from Wavelit. I use IE7, I have not changed my settings any. I used to just take the link and paste it in WMP, now the only thing I see is the introduction and then it stops. Thanks.
Bo Fin,
I am sorry to have to reply to your chat. Nowhere on this Forum do I see where I can start my own subject. The only choices I see are:

Never have I seen so many cam issues on one site in my life. I rarely ever have a good day anymore. The cam is either frozen or black or keeps replaying the same shots. Some of these issues occur every day. The static sound has been going on for over a month. It is driving me nuts. Why does it take so long to repair these problems? I don't get it. I have about given up on this site for good. I can't enjoy it anymore. I have relatives who have already given up. Why the delay in repairs? Where are the new cams also? Everything seems to be done at a very slow pace. Never saw anything like it.

jec,
at the top of the thread page you will see your option for starting a new forum topic. Here is a screen shot to show you where

"Somewhere over the rainbow skies are blue,

Hi Jec,
When making comments about the camera problems, please take into consideration the extreme remote location that it is situated. Weather is often a major contributor when the quality is poor or completely unavailable. There are other uncontrolable factors to consider such as the internet service provider.
The sound issue question was answered here just about a week ago.
Africam made a major announcement just 5 days ago here . Campbell also explained the reasons for delay with regards to the new cam - again, out of their hands.
And yes, I guess compared to what we are used to, South African time probably does move in a slow pace. When we all enjoy the camera so very much it is understandly difficult to be patient. But in the end it is always worth the wait.

Same here Roger. I think it may be a power issue as WE is down also.
