Sabine,

Is there a way for someone from Admin/Africam to help us figure out why some of us are not able to view the watering hole?  I've had several members try to help, but everything they've suggested hasn't worked.  I'm trying to be very patient, but I haven't seen anything posted from admin on things to do in order to fix whatever needs to be done.  I've also decided to help support africam with my dollars (which I did last week) regularly - but if I can't watch the watering hole, my support will stop.  I don't want that to happen, so if you or anyone else have the ability to contact someone who can help, I'd appreciate it greatly!

Hi Bob Fin,

I sent you a pm.  Please keep me posted.

Bob Fin, do you use a firewall?

Cam viewing problems can be caused by firewall settings.

I only see the colors, bleu, pink, red not at all the usual at the Nkorho.

Pete's pond seem to be normal.

OK...per the folks at Africam, I've tried everything, downloaded everything, spent several hours trying to remedy the situation.

Never had a problem with the wavelit unless they were down and never have a problem with Pete's Pond on my intel-based Mac. Can get those two up immediately. And never had a problem with anything else on my Mac since I've had it ( over a year now).

I've tried all kinds of fixes but nothing is working. All I get is a blank white screen with the time above the screen.

If anyone else out there has an intel-based Mac and can easily view it, suggestions are more than welcome. Otherwise, I guess I'll be officially signing off as a viewer of Africam after being a loyal viewer for over a year.

I'll miss it, but at this point, don't know what else I can do! Frown

Hi sldasaro ! I am using an intelbased iMac, running OS 10.4.10. and on both browsers (Safari and Firefox) that I use, all the mentioned cams are running well. I had to download WMPlayer for Mac (latest free version) and Flip4Mac (free also). I have a cable-connection. If you have tried all that and still can't see the stream, all I can think of is, maybe firewall settings on your side are preventing the connection.

Hope I was of any help.

Florian

Well, I disabled it and that didn't work. Just re-installed quicktime and that didn't work. I've reinstalled flip4mac, WMp and everything else I think could have caused problems.  Changed to http from rtsp  in the transporter section of Quicktime to see if it blocked there and that didn't work.

What I don't understand is why just this one site is problematic. I can literally watch anything else on the web except this. It makes no sense to me.

I really appreciate everyone's input including the administrator but this is just out of control now.  I've not had any trouble with anything else since I've had my Mac and to go thru this much he$$ for several days now isn't worth it anymore.  As much as I love Africam, this new format just isn't cutting it for me.

Don't give up Lynn !......cam seems to be down right now anyway....give yourself a good rest from all this and have another go at it with the help of admin at a later point !

Greetings,

Florian...Wink

LOL...give myself a good stiff drink (or should I say sundowner) instead!!

I have even gone into Mac's built-in firewall to make sure everything was right in there.

And now I have no sound coming from Pete's Pond and it keeps freezing.  I'd hate to think trying all this stuff made me mess up Pete's along the way too!   It was running fine until I started messing with everything. Aaargh! Enough already!!!

How about disabling Norton's ad blocker instead of the disabling the firewall. That solved the problem I had with the new player.

We do try Auntie Lyn.  Nkorho cam is approx a five hour drive from Johannesburg where admin is based.  If there is a power failure it is also possible that communication between the two locations has been disrupted and it may take a while for information to be passed on.

Thank you Ingwe, with my feed lately I have no idea if it's me or the cam. And if no one is posting, I have no way of confirming. I wish you would put a blip in that thread that was started over in the watering hole area, just from a moderator who is on, if you lose the cam, and it has been working for you previously, just a note with time, saying cam down for unknown reason, or it's thundering and lightening, cam down more than likely from storm. At times I can't get a feed long enough to know if it's me or not, froze frames and all that stuff you know. Sad I appreciate what everyone is trying to do, but it just gets frustrating at times. I'm just blowing off steam you know Smiling

I would like to know why since you've changed form wavelit to here, that for the first few days the cam worked great.. open up site, cam comes on shows add goes right to Nkohro... Now Especially evenings, I can't get it to work.. not in pop up not rebooting refreshing playing around doing this or that.. nothing the cam will not open up...I click on choose cam nothing.. I cannot get the cam to open.... then when I get up in morning and try, cams fine.. it works, its evening for the cam and its fine.... Its almost like you are blocking people from viewing.. you have any suggestions???   I've cleared temps, I've cleaned out cookies, I've rebooted, refreshed, I've run ad aware, spyware, and Im fine.. but no Nkohro and others are getting it... why not me?

I have been getting a black screen off and on. This morning it came on, but around 9:45 it went back to black. This has been happening regularly.

edit to say I am watching via your pop-up player  Thanks

If I use Africam.com to get to the WH, I can hear the intro tape playing but no picture. ( I love the intro tape of the WH )!!!!!  All of a sudden the WH pops on.

I cannot connect to the waterhole at all - yesterday I got the home page fine and when I clicked on the waterhole I just got a blank black screen - Today something new has gone wrong.  I can now not get to the home page at all - all I hear is the intro drums with no writing or pics at all - what I can see is the silhouette of the leopard on the left and the map of Africa on the right and nothing else comes up but my computer tells me "done" so it has completed the connection but I cannot see anything.  Any suggestions Ingwe, Gerda or Katja?????

Hi Penny,

The cam has been down since around 10pm (cat) I have a black screen also. I don't however have the same problem with the homepage that you're having, the video will play and then the black screen.

I understand that Wildearth's/Djuma cam is also down so I'm hopeful the problem is weather related......

Admin have been notified about it and if we have any info from them we'll post it immediately.

Alles sal rek kom soon I hope Smiling

(everything will be okay soon)

Here, too.  I was out of town the 4th thru the 8th.  It was working fine before I left & now today I can't get anything but the intro beginning & then it all goes to black, saying "ready", but nothing happens.  Obviously something is very messed up.

Penny, I am having the same problem today. I don't see anything on the home page (same as you). That part was OK yesterday.

I was just thinking... just about the time I couldn't see the cam anymore... WMP came up with a critical download which I downloaded.. thinking yes I should keep things like that taken care of.. but could that latest download for WMP be causing the problem?
