OK Aunty Lyn here is the deal - you come to South Africa (by fair means or foul) and we take you to Kruger with us in 6 weeks time and in return you sort out all my problems - you are the best!

Jokes aside I have tried all those things and still cannot view NK for more than 10 seconds without it stopping.  Oh well I will just have to sit it out and maybe like the 403 problem it will just heal itself and then hey presto I will be able to watch when I choose!

I added a video of the cam chat with Jon explaining how we get the feed from Africa to our homes.

Penny, if I may make a suggestion...

Do you know someone locally who used the same ISP as you?  If so, would they allow you to view the streaming cam through their system to compare?  Or do you know someone with a laptop that could bring it over to your location to see what it does through your feed?  Just trying to rule out some more possibilities.  Smiling

Sabine, You're very welcome Smiling I have added the links to my post that you had. What we need to do is make a post somewhere and you mods can lock it or pin it whatever to keep it from getting lost. If you want to do this, be sure and quote my post and when it comes up copy all of it but get rid of the quote and brackets. Let me know if I can help. Smiling

Just want to add to Auntie Lyn's instructions....

I mentioned this earlier, but for those using a third-party firewall, you should make sure you disable the built-in XP firewall. Running two software firewalls can cause problems since they sometimes conflict. Just don't shut down the XP firewall until your real one is running. If you are running the XP firewall by itself...then leave it alone.

In many cases, the vendor of the third-party firewall will already advise this, but in case some folks missed it....something to look at when you have trouble. On the same subject....I have seen people mention shutting down firewalls to view. This is a bad idea. I get port-scanned several times a day, as do most of you whether you know it or not. It only takes a second for a hacker to find a vulnerable system. Instead....just tell your firewall or AV suite to allow all traffic from Africam.

For the admins....

I am still leaning toward a hand-off problem within the stream for those seeing the ad/intro....but not the feed. Would it be possible (just as a test) to run a clean feed for awhile? That is....remove the ad or intro and any activating script and see if there is any change?

Maxx, thanks for that. I added the bit about the firewalls, and not to disable all firewalls, and to adjust setting to allow all content form Africam.com . Any other fixes anyone can think of to add?

Not at present....

I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out why people are seeing the ads/intro...then dieing on the stream. Now when you view the intro....you can see the player progress slider moving. This means the ad/intro is not streaming....and people see that for the most part. Then there comes a hand-off from the ad/intro to the stream...and people are hanging. So something is happening at that point. If there is some coding that makes that transition happen...then perhaps therein lies the problem. Some people'socal settings may be interfering with this hand-off.....but without knowing for sure....I can't guess where the hang is.

Recently it seems like I've been getting kicked off the live stream much more frequently. I leave the cam up pretty much nonstop, but it's annoying to always have to start it up again manually when it used to just keep running without interruption in the past (most of the time). Has anyone else faced this issue? I'm just curious as to whether I'm the only one.

I'm having the same problem for about a week or so.  And it's so slow loading forum posts that people are off and into bed before I can get back with them.

Hi!

I'm a first time poster on the Forum. I was watching EP last night, but today all I get is a blank blue screen after the ad. I have a Mac 10.4.11 and am using FF 2.0.0.11. Everything worked fine last night. I do have Flip4Mac installed. Can anyone else with a Mac tell me what changed since last night and how to view EP? TIA

ETA: Sorry, I just read on the EP thread the cam is down right now. It wasn't because of having a Mac. Sorry!

Apparently the streaming video has not been working for a while? When I log on from a PC or a Mac, only a black screen appears?

hi, last night 11 to midnight EST I couldn't get the stream.  but since this am, it has been fine.  I just watched three giraffes at the waterhole.    I have never seen any animals yet at elephant plains.

I had trouble on the ibook getting anything but the ads for a few weeks, had been ok before.  Then I tried from the iMac and it was OK, so took ibook to Apple store and the guy worked for half hour or so, was about to give up, then another young man did something taking off windows media I think, and got it, tho I can't enlarge the window now which I used to be able to do.   I go in through safari.     Before I did do firefox and flip4 mac.  but lately that isn't as good for this machine.   confusing.

Gerda,

You solved the problem!  I had to upgrade to Media Player 11 -

thanks so very much!  The picture is fuzzy, but it is nighttime, so good to get rid of those pink/blue lines!

Hi Postmaa,

Both streaming cams are down because, Africam is busy doing a network upgrade at the moment.

Yesterday and today I have not been able to view Elephant Plains.  When I click on Elephant Plains it pops up as Nkorho.

You are not the only one Susanne ...I think there is a problem also at Nkorho pop up window too ...

For those they have problems to find EP, the link of Ep at the right side of the first page  works well

Roger buffering here for me too. Someone on the forum suggested last night my time I go back to WM player 10 but it is still buffering and cannot seem to fullscreen Nkorho now. The image is still small and it is upside down at the moment with no audio. I have IE 7 so maybe that is the problem with the buffering. I am unsure how to get IE6 back on my laptop without losing anything. I have not tried EP stream so do not know if that is bad also but last night my time it had the Nkorho stream on it.

Is this still a problem?

We let admin know and I thought it was fixed? I'm not having a problem so I can't tell  Eye-wink

Yup.  I get Nkorho when I click on EP in the left margin on the forums page.  I haven't tried from the home page yet.

No buffering at Nkorho at all.  Just no sound.
