N I G H T - L I F E Waterbuck ~ Kobus ellipsiprymnus hello - we had this elephant arrive about Thu, 18/09/2008 - 12:55pm ( pacific) - 10 . pm c.a.t. time can you tell us anything about the animal - and collar etc thanks barry Hi Barry This is an Elephant bull This Elephant is being monitored by the Sabi sands to track Elephant movement in the area. There are a couple of bulls and about 5 herds being monitored and every 3 months the Sabi sands release a report on their movements. They also often go and do head counts so they can get average sizes of herd. I have seen the last report and it is quite interesting to see the distances that they move. Have a great day Ernst __________________

Scrub hare ~ Lepus saxatilis ~
The Scrub Hare is larger in the southwestern parts of the range (2.7-4.5 kg) than further north (1.5-3.2 kg). The upper parts are a grizzled-grey and the under parts white. They have long ears which are grey in colour, and together with the black- and-white tail these become most visible whilst fleeing. Diet The Scrub Hare feeds mainly on short, green gasses, but during times of hardship scrub hares will also take leaves, stems and rhizomes of dried grass __________________

THE MANYELETI BROTHERS.
I always said let the proof tell you the story. I just now said that there are two male lions following the injured one that was the update we received. So Greg went to go and view the two male lions and guess who was the two male lions THE MANYELETI BROTHERS. The one who "is dead" is fine walking like normal and the other one is injured Greg says looks like the leg is off. Then the news got even better. They are on their way to the open area so if all things goes well you all will see them., BUT they have been in a fight ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sounds like the ones back right leg may be off. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay a quick load down: The one is fine only scares. The other one: back right leg is broken on the knee and he has a big cut on the inside of his leg. Hunting wise: He will rely on the healthy bigger male to do the hunting for time being untill the broken leg has grown back. The only problem is that they are skinny and the injured one has to get some food to survive. His leg should heel but he will always walk with a limp. once heeled they will be able to hunt bigger things like buffalo again. They won't move far in the next month or so. The next stop should be NK waterhole since we are the closest for water lets keep fingers crossed. Jacques __________________

I got a request from Penny 2 to tell you were the 7 lions are as we speak: They are right infront of her room in hunting mode not even 20meters from her deck. We did research and we found that the 7 lions are known as the Windmall pride. Jacques __________________
