Hello~~

I'm new to these forums, lots of bells and whistles, so any suggestions or hints in navigating the maze of options is most welcome.  I'm a Nkorho Pan live-stream cam fan !  I'll remain on-line for next 30 minutes ....should any one wish to *chat* ..

Hello & welcome to Africam Elle - I'm just about to sit down to dinner so I'll have to introduce myself next time we meet.  In the meantime here are some helpful things to read to get you started.

Hi elle99, and welcome. I have to get ready for work, but I hope you stay and chat with the rest around the little Watering Hole in SA. I also hope we get to see more of you here. Y'know, the old saying "the more the merrier" and all that fun stuff.

Happy camming. Smile

Welcome to Africam and the Boma, elle99!

The 'Watering Hole' forum is the right place if you want to talk about sighting on Nkorho Cam. We have two daily topics for Nkorho Cam:

  • The Nkorho Cam Sightings Discussion topic is only for Nkorho cam related observation and discussion. If you have any questions about anything you see or hear on the cam please ask them there.
  • This topic, the Nkorho Cam Chat topic, is a place to chat about other things when the cam is quiet or down.
Happy Camming! Smiling

S'okay, I'll respond to my own post~~~I no sooner posted my plea for someone to take me by the hand and guide me through this maze of not-quite-real-time-but-valiantly-trying-to-be-real-time-chat-and/or-discussions and I promptly got lost and couldn't find my way back to the thread bearing my nic and raised hand.  And more importantly how does one know if/when someone is responding to one's post?  Do I keep hitting refresh button? I see there is a learning curve to be discovered, some reading to be done in instruction/introduction section.  But not tonight!  Soon.  (all-things-being-equal I can find my way back!

Hey elle, you'll be a pro in no time. I usually scan around and read the different threads. When I click back into the "watering hole" forum mainpage, for example, I can see how many "new" posts have occurred and when the last one was posted. Yes, it's one of the many plus factors to being signed in as a board member. Of course, hitting the refresh button is always a good option too, lol.

Hello Sabine~~

Thank you for your note-of-welcome, you must have posted it while I answered my own post!  I shall take a look at your helpful links and try and cooridinate a chat time with you!  I'm on east coast..maritime...navigated tropical storm noel last night so that's my excuse for not being quite up to tackling South Africa tonight.  Again, thanks for taking time to say hello!

Hello Marblehead~~~ Thank you for your warm greeting and suggestions.  Have a good *day/night*? Smiling at work and I look forward to chatting in the near future.  A large scattering of bread crumbs might be in the offing to find my way back to this corner of the Pan forums.  Your nic and locale seem to go-hand-in-hand! *grin* said a fellow maritimer on other side of border

Hello Katja!!

Thank you for your greeting and suggestions regarding chat about Nkhorho.  I can see that in the brief hour that I've joined this forum I can only handle one small quiet corner at a time so I shall try and find my way back to this niche in coming weeks, hopefully we will get a chance to all talk and gush about the wonders of nature through the eyes of the Afri-pan-cam! Smiling

Thanks for the good wishes at work tonight. I only work two hours outside my home on a Sunday night and love my work, so I promise to have fun.

Be careful about those bread crumbs, though. You know in our part of the world, wolves, moose, deer, coyotes, and every bird on either side of the border will be snatching them up quickly as you lay them down. A large lettered cry for help on any forum around here will bring our awesome moderators to take your hand and gently lead you back to us.

Talk to you soon. Smiling

Since the cam is down for right now I enjoy watching the Barney Cam. This is one of the Whitehouse dogs. They have lots of pictures, and on the right hand side you can watch the films made by Barney. I sure will miss this dog. Barney

I used quick time because windows media would make you lose the WE cam.

With the time change, is it approx 4:00 am in Africa?  I am so confused.  seems to be light earlier than normal there.  Watching PP at the moment.

Welcome Elle!

It's quieter than usual around here with the rainy season and fewer critters...but it will be hopping in a few months so good you're getting your sea legs now. Laughing

Hello Cynthiab~~ Smiling

Thanks for welcome!  Would you believe the only way I found my way back today (Monday) to my first discussion thread was noticing section *My List* on left of screen then *daring* to hit *track* button--phew finally found my nic and posts from last night Smiling a learning-curve I tell you so have mercy fellow nature chatters if I don't automatically respond.  Luckily I'm a fast *learner* and a good reader !   In the meantime I love reading all of your pan-cam observations ...I discovered this wonderful real-time-stream-out-of-time this past winter ( a blessing through many a Canadian blizzard and/or sub freezing temps)  and have shared the site with family and friends.  I am without hesitation a Nature Nut :)  albeit it one with wobbly sea legs! It sort of cracks me up right now to watch the dramatic Nkorho video every time I log in...

only to segue to...

Another day of E&T floatin' around the pool. Talk about anti-climatic LOL! Laughing

Good morning (my time!), everyone!  So nice to see the cam back up....and the sound is static-free for now!  Wonderful to hear the birds, again.

Either that or someone's firing off a 21-gun artillery salute to welcome Elle99.  WOW - that was one loud clap of thunder just then!Surprised
