If you look at the one in the Database, I'm sure we saw the same tonight. :)

I think they are intriguing critters.

Wild Call posted this link on the chat page

http://www.bigcatrescue.org/civet.htm

It's the best daylight picture of a civet that I've seen, and it seems easy to imagine that this was the creature we saw.. I just thought I'd post this here since most of the discussion of the creature is here..

Isn't it great when a critter walks by on this side of the WH??

And I think I will never get tired of saying how great it is that there is always someone taking a video for the rest of us. Thanks Aquila!

I vote Civet! LOL Looked just like one that the cam op zoomed in on once for us. Also think this is what was seen on the upper left last night that slunk up to the water hole and then walked off up towards the path next to the Marula Tree. :)

It was more the shape of the animal that we made our call from and the lighting is very confusing. The civet has such a characteristic half moon hoop to its body which was just not there! To be really honest the pics are not entirely convincing and lighting as I said plays a large part. It could even have been a striped polecat - who knows but we certainly have some fun with all of these different opinions!

Hi Penny! I still think a civet, his tail is too long for a HB and the colouring isn't right :?

Now I am very confused :? I didn't see any white on it's back or tail like a honey badger. Are you sure Penny :?

Bob and I just throwing in our two cents worth in between ad breaks for Amazing race and we both think it is a honey badger - Civer tends to have more of a hooped appearance!

Thanks Ingwe -- cool to get such a great sighting of a civet, on this side of the WH no less

oh -- and did you see that there is consensus building that we had a leucotic lizard buzzard two days ago?

That was a cool sighting :D I love it when they play nice and walk on this side

I was just reading about the buzzard, that's very interesting and another great sighting!

I can't tell about the mask, but it seems to have some stripes on its rump in the second picture. But I'll defer to the experts, cuz I really couldn't tell.
