Really? one at a time ..don't they travel in a bunch tho?- sorry learning lingo still lol - I think the trip must be to read up on them one a day or something in the beginning - or  as I come across questions like this..

OMG - burlap sack- Hilarious!..must be like catnip to them lol

The duikers are solitary bokkies. There's all kinds of info about each species seen at the wh on the site database if you're interested.

It almost always takes them several trips very near the water before they finally get a drink...very goosey(sp) and spook very easily...I can't remember ever seeing more tha n one at a time.

LOL WC! Funny story....poor Intern!

Janni - the duiker is always timid. Maybe because it doesn't enjoy the safety of numbers in a herd that other bokkies do? Just my theory! LOL

I watched a segment on the Jay Leno show where Ross the Intern goes behind the scenes at a zoo. For enrichement for lions, the keepers collect elephant poop and fill up burlap bags with the stuff, and then they scatter the bags around the lion enclosure. The lions just LOVE the poop and roll around all over the burlap bags!!

Just my little "elephant poop" contribution!  LOL!

Yes - I was wondering that too - maybe they have a poor sense of smell - I'll have to look that up lol..However the first couple of times I saw them I think in the few days I've been on..I think they came to the far side of the pool there

shy little one..always like? that or does it mean maybe predators around

Why do they always goto the finger spot.  Would think they'd like to put some distance between them & the Ellie poop.

Ellies need some housetraining, don't they? They sure have nasty bathroom habits.....pooping in/near their water source! There's a nervous little bokkie (duiker)? Thanks for staying up later with us, Zoomie!

Duiker got scared of the Ellie poop which almost as big as she is!
