One of these days before I die, I and 11 of you, are going to have a mini-Afracam convention at Nkorho. Wouldn't that be a blast? We could take the place over....including the cam lol. __________________

Anne, so I take it that we need an Ellie and a leopard around 6:20 tonight? Lets keep our toes crossed.
Any time before midnight CAT will do, but I would prefer a little earlier than that! I am not sure if ellies and leopards get along or not. We know from the other night that rhinos and ellies didn't seem to be bothered by 7 lions, in fact were either ignoring them or confronting them. I have heard that lions and leopards are not a good mix as the lion is likely to steal a leopards kill, but that lion was looking across the wh at something. Maybe the leopard? It seems like the ellies usually come from behind the cam tree, going on either side and usually make a lot of crunchy noises when they get close to the wh, so we can usually know it is them. Toes, fingers and eyes crossed. Oops, uncross the eyes! I need to see clearly when they come!

Did anyone else hear a short "Heh" exhaled breath close to the cam tree a few minutes ago? It was followed by a snap like a branch being stepped on. Not a cat or ellie I would think, as the first is very quiet and the other very noisy when they arrive.

Thanks for staying up late with us, Zoomie! You have been doing a fantastic job with close-ups tonight ! I am so glad it is close to a full moon tonight, as it extends the range that the camera can see by a great deal!

We have only seen 2 of the big 5 right? Rhino and Lion
No! some buffs were here first thing in the new day, followed just an hour later by the rhinos. Now, had the rhinos not had their roller skates crushed by the buff herd, they would have been here before midnight instead of 1 hour and 45 minutes late and we would have had a Big 5 in one day in addition to the Big 5 within 24 hours. If an ellie and leopard arrive before midnight it will be a Big 5 in one day today. Ok, the ellies out there must be hard of hearing! "Put that trunk in your ears and clean them out! We have been calling all day for you to come!" Since Mr. Bent tail, Inthula, was here yesterday, perhaps the young unidentified female leopard that was seen recently nearby will get here instead. Where is my trumpet when I need it?? Oh, I forgot, I play drums, not trumpet! |
I just tried to type a long email address for a YouTube video song and I pushed something and lost it all. I will try again. http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=yihq8BIhL9c If this doesn't connect, the title of the song is The Elephant Song-Cool Tunes for Kids by Eric Herman
This is the final call for ellie and leopard before midnight!
