ex_centric, I saw a video of a zebra that tried to drown the lion that attacked it. It was amazing that the zebra held the lion underwater then after awhile fled.

I wonder if any other species is capable of defending their young like the Buffs....maybe the Zebs? Anyone know?

I have seen wildebeest circle their young when preds were attacking and the baby made it ok... I think it's instink to protect the young....Have you seen the vid of the ellie being born how the Older ellies circled the newborn to protect him?

I think it was interesting seeing the video after watching them on the Djuma cam last night or this morning, forget which. They looked a bit "bovine" and/or dangerous on the cam, but very endearing on Campbell's vid. :D

we're attracted to lions, desperately want to see lions or even just hear them at the WH, but obviously wish they'd all turn into instant vegans...And if they did, we probably wouldn't find them half so fascinating... :? :)
