I hope they fix the cam before heading out to dream land... The last time the lions came by the all had a drink from that side of the pan....

There are ecological ,sp> reasons for not filling the waterhole to the top. Each year as the water in these ponds dry up certain bacterias die off and a whole bunch of other nature things happen I'm not able to explain there are a couple people here who can maybe they will see this and answer.

They keep some water in the hole so the animals come visit us but they need to stay as close to nature as they can. Maybe this one never totally dries up I don't know.

Hi Madison  (my granddaughter's name too)Smile

Welcome to the forum.

I will attempt to answer your question.( However there are more learned folks than me.)  But I believe that this is considered the dry season,as it is winter there.  They do fill the pan but it seems to empty really fast this time of year.  Lots of beasties coming for a drink.

Have a great day

I have been looking at the watering hole feed for quite a while and have noticed within the past few weeks or so the watering hole keeps getting smaller and smaller.  Does the lodge ever fill the hole?  It is definitely in need of it now.  Thanks

I'm with you KeeKee.  I would love to see this pond in person.

Those 2 wildies sure looked like they had somewhere to go in a hurry.

Texas has beautiful places too but I want to go to Nk.

I agree, Mike.  I love living in California, but visit Africa first.  We'll keep the light on for ya.
