Well shucks, it would seem that ONLY we Canadians have the perfect solution for this annoying and yes temporary snow storm. If all else fails, and the snow persists, Canada is prepared to send help......Smiling

LOL, Ann, I enjoyed reading your latest Urgent Update.

I sure some might think I'm not so nice when I say that if I managed this wonderful BOMA sight and the Lodge, I would never allow unqualified guests to play zoomie. If I'm not mistaken, money from advertisers comes to websites based on the number of visitors it gets. Lots of people come here to watch the Watering Hole. They will cease to visit if they are always experiencing snowstorms. In many cases, we have enough blizzards in our homelands.

Again, if I was big, bad, manager, I would invest in people to run and maintain the camera equipment. What would result? Better viewing resulting in more hits to the site, resulting in more money from advertisers. This is simple math, really.

Ok, ok, I'm done with my rave. I'll let you know if it made me feel any better, later. For now, I'm sooooo frustrated by the fuzz and snow.

Nkorho Watering Hole on the evening of 9/7/07 = "This is your brain on drugs". Sad

Thanks for the welcome:) Does anyone know what GOM means? I hate to ask dumb questions, but I am so excited to be on this site! I have been obsessed with watching!

Welcome newbie!  You will soon learn to recognize animal voices.  One thing that can help is to go to the Nkorho Sounds forum.  Many of the animals have been recorded there.  I myself still get confused by the differences between babs and jackals when they really get riled up.  And I was told years ago, that the only dumb question would be the one that is never asked.  There are lots of addicts( and that doesn't mean they are taking drugs!) on this forum that will be glad to answer questions and find out from someone else if they don't know the answer themselves.

Welcome, xtine!  I am a newbie too and I am also hooked on all this!  These guys/gals have been great at welcoming and at answering questions and giving suggestions.  I am soooo glad I am here.

Urgent Update!!

FREQUENT FUZZY FOCUS FRUSTRATES FANS!

Fans of Africam Nkorho Pan are extremely frustrated with the focus of the cam at night. Even when no zoomie is available at times during the day, whatever the cam is pointed at is usually in focus.  At night an entirely different scene appears.  Everyone understands that there are problems with a variety of things and some measures have been taken to correct them.  Cammers were unhappy when the cam was off line for whatever reason, but being left all night with the out of focus view that we see tonight is unacceptable.  We had a sighting of a lion last night.  We are grateful that we were at least able to see enough to recognize that it was a lion.  Tonight, we had a zoomie present at various times that was able to focus on a few animals at the finger end of the wh, but for several times, the cam was left pointing for lenghty periods of time at an area between the wh and the marula tree and no one could imagine why, as nothing was visible except out of focus barren white wasteland.  When  viewers who are new to the Boma, ask why is the picture so blurry?, we do not know the answer.  One cammer commented that perhaps  the last person to handle the cam at the lodge was either "seeing pink elephants, blind or dead".  We would be happy to see an elephant of any color, even white, if we could know for sure that is what we are looking at.  As to being blind, many of us have gone out looking for new glasses as we can't believe anyone would leave the cam for the night in such terrible focus and it must be our eyes that have gone bad.  We hope the last person who handled the cam last is not dead, but I think that if some of us were close enough, we would threaten him or her with bodily harm.  Or at least force them to sit inches from an out of focus screen and stare at it for 8 hours.  This reporter normally likes to see the humor in situations, but even though one hyena did giggle tonight, she and others didn't see anything funny.

Aliens are tired of getting accused of all that goes wrong with the cam.  Unless they have actually invaded the bodies of the employees and guests at the lodge. INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS!!!  Only the SHADOW knows for sure and he isn't telling!
