Thursday 14th December cam discussion
I hope so, I'm pulling an all nighter here. Fixing to start the migration down stairs.

Actually, no. At the moment I don't have a job but have been taking care of my mothers estate since Feb. Tomorrow I have a rather unpleasent medical thing and will be up for the night "prepairing" so to speak.

If you've been there you know what I'm talking about

Oh dear, Chuck, I know what you are talking about, and all I can say is that keep it very firmly in your mind that it will all be over soon. Tonight will be the worst. The procedure is a piece of cake.
And, to keep this watering hole relevent, I have to read the posts for yesterday. I wonder what animals have been to the pan today?

Well, at least you have picked the board that never sleeps to be active on! Hope it goes well!
I'm in and out for a while here... Hopefully there'll be some good animals.
Water Hole, black hole, is there a difference? I've crossed the blue event horizon I'm sure, though my orbit is pretty wide, lately. But, being unable to escape from the pull of lions and crickets ain't so bad. Impala Soother
Oddly enough, I love the watering hole at night even if no animals come around at all, because the sounds are so soothing to me! I love it! Sometimes I keep it on for background and nothing more!
What was that just now?? Don't know if it was an alarm or what. I'm thinking a bird of some sort.

Hey Kalebsmom!
Welcome to the Boma! It's very relaxing indeed around here at night. Unless it's exciting like last night. *grin*
Is that a bird, or is that a primate alarm call? Maybe there are some predators about after all!
(Hmm, interesting, Pearly--spotted Owlet, according to Swift.)

That were some very nice calls of a pearl-spotted owlet.
It must have been quite close to the cam.

Since finding this site I have been glued to my seat.......but it paid off...saw the lions yesterday and a beautiful bull elly this morning and I got some lovely pics to, so I am happy! I used to work as a safari guide through africa so having a webcam at a waterhole is brilliant!

For lack of a proper name, I call this a "cacklebird". I'm in hopes someone will listen to this WAV file and identify what made it.

Last night shortly after the Lions left, we heard a Jackal followed by Baboons barking. Not long after that I recorded this bird.
Thanks,
